As a Book Club leader for over 20 years, Deby Eisenberg challenged herself to write a novel that her avid readers could not put down and would love to discuss. With her first works of historical fiction, Book Club favorites PICTURES OF THE PAST and the IPPY Award winning PROTECTING PAIGE, she enjoyed touring as a Jewish Book Council Author. She is a former literature and creative writing high school teacher and journalist, with a master's degree from the University of Chicago. " I love to envision multi-generational stories, set in challenging times, that inform as well as entertain, that broaden the mind and open the heart. I am drawn to the theme of young love and the power of that love to endure forever.” Although her novels, including her newest, PASSIONS OF THE GRANDE DAME HOTEL, do not just center on one time period, they include elements of WWII and the Holocaust. “I believe, as readers, we can better understand horrific events of global proportion through identification and empathy with individual experiences,” Eisenberg states.
