Debbi Mack

Debbi Mack is the New York Times bestselling author of the Sam McRae Mystery Series, featuring lawyer-sleuth Stephanie Ann "Sam" McRae. Her series has been praised by critics and authors alike. Debbi is in the process of reissuing all four Sam McRae mysteries under her own imprint, Renegade Press.

The Sam McRae mystery series consists of four novels, two of which are currently published:

* "Identity Crisis"
* "Least Wanted"
* "Riptide"
* "Deep Six"

Of the first novel, "Identity Crisis", book reviewer Aimee Zuccarini wrote: "Alfred Hitchcock once said, 'There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it.' Author Debbi Mack nails that statement in this tightly written tale about a flawed Maryland attorney, 'Sam' McRae ... Debbi Mack crafts a taut narrative with crackling dialogue."

Her second novel, "Least Wanted", was lauded by author Timothy Hallinan as "a brave, heartbreaking, and thrilling book with a complex plot that takes attorney Sam McRae on a dizzying tour of several circles of urban hell, against a backdrop of white-collar crime. I loved it, and I admire Mack for writing it without flinching or suggesting easy answers. It's a sequel that outdoes 'Identity Crisis' and holds the promise of a great series."

Debbi's also published an award-winning young adult novel, "Invisible Me", and a thriller called "The Planck Factor". An early convert to ebook publishing, Debbi has benefitted from thrusting herself into self-publishing on the bleeding edge of the indie author revolution.

She's currently finishing work on a mystery entitled "Damaged Goods" with a new protagonist, retired Marine and unlicensed investigator Erica Jensen. A Derringer nominee, Debbi has written and published several short stories, many of which are compiled in her anthology "Five Uneasy Pieces".

Debbi hosts a podcast called the Crime Cafe where she interviews other crime, suspense, and thriller authors. In June, she launched a Patreon campaign for the podcast, which can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/crimecafe

Debbi has also written a feature film screenplay that made the semi-finals in the 2016 Scriptapalooza contest. Her first novel has been optioned by a Maryland producer, and Debbi adapted the novel into the first draft of the screenplay.

A die-hard film lover, Debbi also blogs about movies and has produced two compilations of her film reviews. Her movie blog is here: https://debbimacktoo.wordpress.com/

Her movie review compilations are as follows:

* I Found it at the Movies: Film Noir Reviews
* I Found it at the Movies: Neo-Noir Reviews

Debbi plans to issue more movie compilations, as time and energy allow.

A Queens, NY native, Debbi is a retired lawyer and stroke survivor with dystonia, who once worked as a journalist, librarian, and freelance writer/researcher and organized a fundraiser for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. She lives in Columbia, MD, with her husband and their cats. Debbi enjoys walking, cats, reading, travel, movies and espresso--not necessarily in that order.
