David A. Clark, clinical psychologist, researcher, therapist and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick, Canada received his formal training in behavior therapy and a PhD in 1984 at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, England. He then proceeded to postdoctoral research and clinical training under Dr. Aaron T. Beck at the Center for Cognitive Therapy, University of Pennsylvania. He has coauthored several books on cognitive behavior therapy of anxiety and depression with Dr. Beck, the founder of cognitive therapy, including Scientific Foundations of Cognitive Theory and Therapy of Depression, Cognitive Therapy of Anxiety Disorders: Science and Practice, and The Anxiety & Worry Workbook: The Cognitive Behavioral Solution. His most recent book, The Anxious Thoughts Workbook, provides practical advice on how to gain control over the distressing intrusive thoughts that drive anxiety, obsessions and depression. While maintaining an active speaking, professional workshop, teaching and research schedule, David also finds time to pursue his hobbies and leisure activities like carpentry, running and water skiing. The father of two adult daughters, Natascha and Christina, he lives at home in an old Victorian era house with his life-long partner, Nancy Nason-Clark, sociologist,and maintains a part-time private practice.
