Daniel Bernardi is a Professor in the School of Cinema and Executive Producer of the Veteran Documentary Corp at San Fransisco State University. Bernardi’s research explores the representation and narration of cultural difference, including race, gender and sexuality, in film, television and popular culture. A Naval Reserve officer, he has served in Iraq (2009-10), Indonesia (2010), Oceania (2011) and Vietnam (2012), among other areas of the world. He is the author of Star Trek and History: Race-ing Toward a White Future (Rutgers University Press, 1998), co-author of Narrative Landmines: Rumors, Islamist Extremism and the Struggle for Strategic Influence (Rutgers University Press, 2012), editor of five books on ethnicity and race in American cinema, and the author of numerous articles on early cinema, U.S. television and new media. He is the founder of NarrativeTrack, a deep-dive analytics and strategic communication start-up company located in San Francisco.
