His nonfiction focuses on practical leadership lessons grounded in experience rather than complicated theory, while his fiction explores larger themes of power, conflict, loyalty, and human nature. After years of unfinished drafts, quiet observation, and thousands of notes, Burgess finally brought those lessons together in his first published book, If It Works… Keep Doing It, a straightforward reflection on leadership that values common sense over complexity and people over process.
