Chris Snell trained as an engineer in the aircraft and mining industries, subsequently taking an Open University degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. He then spent twenty seven years teaching Mathematics, Design & Technology and General Studies in a girls' private school. His first novel, The Shout (term for a lifeboat launch), deals with the dangers and uncertainties each launch presents to its RNLI crew, the effects on their families; politics of harbour life; tensions created between holiday-home owners and some crew members. His second, Sarbacane, is currently in the process of being fine tuned, ready for submission. It tells the story of a group of army officers appalled at what they encounter on return to civilian life and the steps they take to rid society of a range of undesirables from drug dealers through to corrupt bankers, CEOs and the like. His children's photographic picture and story book is currently enjoying some success. It is based on a series of polar bear photographs taken by the author on an expedition among the Arctic ice floes. Chris lives in Falmouth, Cornwall with his wife Jackie.
