Charles Curtis Hagan, Jr. has been a practicing attorney in Louisville, KY for over 34 years. He is a 1969 graduate of Louisville Male High School. He graduated from the University of Louisville (B.A.1975) in three years as a political science major. He then graduated from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville (J.D. 1975). He recently received his Master of Science (Management) degree from New England College of Henniker, NH (2011) with an emphasis in Non-profit Leadership. Charles is a former Upward Bound Student, Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities (1971- 1972), and a 1975 graduate of the CLEO Institute at the University of Kentucky where he finished third out of thirty five students. While attending law school, he was a three time recipient of the Earl Warren Legal Training Scholarship. Immediately after law school he went to work for the Louisville Urban League as Voter Registration Coordinator. In 1976 the Presbyterian Community Center of Louisville chose him to lead a juvenile diversion program (Project Pass). Not only did he rescue that program from probation, but succeeded in getting additional grant funding for a youth employment program (Project YES) for impoverished young people.11 In 1982 Charles was nominated and acknowledged as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America. After nine months with the Jefferson District Public Defender’s Office, he opened his own private practice in May 1980. The firm of Hagan and Mullins concentrates its practice in criminal defense, personal injury, wrongful death and family law matters. Hagan is a member of the Louisville and Kentucky Bar Associations, and was previously a voting member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has been listed in Martindale-Hubbell and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in July 1986. Charles Hagan is a highly organized, meticulously prepared, detail oriented, courtroom savvy and aggressive criminal defense attorney who consistently achieves successful results for his clients. He delivers quality legal representation and wins numerous acquittals and dismissals for the clients he represents. Hagan has extensive experience in criminal law and a proven track record of successes. His motto is “aggressive representation, effective advocacy, and gentle persuasion”. Hagan has been involved in numerous civic, community, and educational activities. He has served as a volunteer Judge at the moot court competition at the University of Louisville and the National Mock Court Trial competition at Eastern Kentucky University. He served as a volunteer with the University of Louisville Athletic Department as part of the Ditto and Stat crews for football and basketball games for over 13 years. He also served as the Executive Director of the Midwest Missionary Baptist Youth Conference from 1984 to 1988, and as a former Chapter representative for the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA). He is a member and trustee of the St. Stephen Baptist Church of Louisville, KY. Hagan lives in Louisville, KY and his hobbies include, reading, writing, and photography. He is an avid reader, fine art collector, and loves to travel.
