I was born in Los Angeles. I went to college at Northwestern University and double majored in History and Theater (Playwriting). I went to Stanford University where I received a Masters degree in Latin American History. I returned to Los Angeles and attended UCLA, where I received a Masters degree in Colonial Latin American History, advanced to PhD candidacy, and began to work on a dissertation describing Native-Spanish relations in 18th-Century New Mexico (never finished). As a part of my study I taught classes on the Historical Jesus/Early Christianity and the History of World Religions. Simultaneously, I worked in the Theater, writing plays that premiered at New Playwrite's Arena and The Substation. I also collaborated on a screenplay, Five Fingers, which was made for Lionsgate and starred Laurence Fishburne and Ryan Phillipe. My writing partner (Laurence Malkin) and I embarked on a film and television writing career. We wrote on assignment for Sony, Paramount, Lionsgate, and others, and we created television pilots for NBC, F/X, AMC and SyFy. The Undesirables is my first novel.
