J E (Buck) Buchanan grew up with that famed Western Pennsylvania work ethic which has served him well throughout his life. After he escaped high school with minimal scars from sports and young love, he studied engineering at Purdue University followed by a master’s in business at Long Island University. He worked in the aerospace industry before becoming a Special Agent for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, an organization originally formed to fight organized crime and official corruption. (Wow. Talk about a Plan B.) For 27 years he conducted and supervised major investigations ranging from homicide and narcotics smuggling to white collar crime and corruption. While writing has always been a part of his life, he didn’t start composing fiction until leaving law enforcement (regardless of what some defense attorneys might contend). He has several projects in progress based on cases he worked. Humor is always present in his fiction, even when the subject is serious crime. However, he took that humor to a new level in his recently published Amazon novel. When first published on Kindle, The Secret Files of Hugo and Victoria was nominated for Best Humor/Satire of the Year by Big Al’s Books and Pals, a top Kindle reviewer. The book is a hilarious satire of the private eye and paranormal genres, as well as life itself. It is populated with weird characters caused by mixed breeding of vampires, witches, and werewolves and wild curses and spells. Buck maintains these characters aren’t much weirder than some he encountered during investigations. In addition to writing, physical fitness, sports, and travel are among Buck’s many interests, but family and friends come first. He lives in South Florida with his wife Susan – for more years than she wants him to admit – and every stray dog and cat she can drag in. He says he can’t complain because she dragged him in too.
