I’ve worked in the oilfields of Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. First as a floor hand, motor man then as a derrick man. My youth was spent driving trucks hauling grain from Liberal, Kansas to Houston, Texas. Once delivered a load of bailing twine from Houston, Texas to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Then took a load of watermelons from Cotulla, Texas to Denver, Colorado for Safeway Grocery Inc., where they were placed on the railroad to deliver back to Cotulla! Go figure! Delivered a load of mattresses from Chickasha, Oklahoma to Rolla, Missouri. Then I transported produce to New Mexico, Colorado and Missouri.
One time was a migrant worker; picking tomatoes, potatoes and prunes in Oregon. Then I hoed, picked and chopped cotton in Oklahoma and Mississippi, pitched hay bales in Colorado, and worked the harvest and drove wheat combines in Oklahoma. Shoed horses & mules in Colorado. Worked at The Arapaho Hunt Club in Littleton, Colorado taking care of polo ponies.
Have been an apprentice embalmer and an ambulance driver too! I was an assistant grocery manager, sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha and Allstate Insurance Company. Had a bad car accident where I "died" 3 times. Was the "guest" of the county (jail). So, I sincerely believe that I’ve been there and done that! Was like a "rolling stone" or a "Lonesoe Fugitive"!
I have authored & published two western novels; CLEARWATER(76,694 words-276 pages) and MERCER’S MANOR(95,799 words-333 pages). There is no profanity or graphic sex in either. A hint: When I wrote MERCER’S MANOR, I had in my mind’s eye, Tom Selleck as Dan Mercer, Sam Elliott as his side-kick, and Reba McEntire as the love interest The same with CLEARWATER; Clint Eastwood as the aging sheriff and Bruce Dern as the “serial killer”! This way keeps me from having to take notes!

My wife commented that I was not content. I beg to differ with her. There are the three “C’s”: covetousness, contentment and complacency. I do not COVET other people’s things, I believe in working for what I possess. I am CONTENT with what I do have, but I hope that I will never become so COMPLACENT as not to want to have more.
While working on a dude ranch in Mancos, Colorado I met my wife, Laurel Ann Mastenbrook. and after 30 minutes asked her to marry me. I will be the first to admit I was a tad slow, but I did have to know her name first! I am a strong believer in setting my priorities. August 1st, 2021 we wil celebrated our 52th wedding anniversary.
March 15, 2004, I won the first Game to Fame contest. The 1st online reality contest, Game of Fame. The prize was an all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood where I met with various writers of the “Law & Order” series on TV, independent movie producers and screenplay people. All to promote my two western novels!
Then on February 15th, 2005 I was invited back to help celebrate the next two winners; Cassi Rissa (Game 2) & Christine Phillips (Game 3) at the ultra chic House of Blues (owned by John Candy, Dan Aykroyd & Jim Belushi) in Hollywood! I met the actors of the Survivor Australia, Katy Doyle and others. Had a wonderful time!

Bobby R. Woodall is from Chickasha, OK, but lives in Columbus, IN since 1971 with his bride whom he calls “Babe”. All..other women are “doll”. Bobby writes western novels and truly used to be a “cowboy”. When he met his wife of 52 years, He was shoeing horses and mules at a dude ranch in Colorado. He is a christian and a MARINE!
Bobby always wanted to write, but his high school English teacher told him, “Woodall, you cannot place 10 words together to make a proper sentence.” He has actually placed over 187,000 words together to create two novels with no profanity or graphic sex!
“I think of writing as therapeutic in that one can fantasize, vent ones frustrations or relive an event! I have a satisfied mind if I never write another book, although I have a sequel to one western, children book, horror story and scary story all in my head. The hard part is to bring them to the forefront!”
His first novel (CLEARWATER) is about a 'serial killer' of the old west, whereas his 2nd novel (MERCER'S MANOR) is a post-Civil War epic.
My novels have no profanity nor graphic sex. I am a MARINE, therefore I klnow both but I am a CHRISTIAN first!!
