Bill Rogers has written nine crime thriller novels - all of them based in and around the City of Manchester, England - a crossover novel for Teens,Young Adults, and Adults, and an Anthology of short stories including a novella.

His first novel, The Cleansing, was short listed for the Long Barn Books Debut Novel Award, and received the eBook Publishing Consortium Writers Award. His fourth - A Trace of Blood - reached the semi-final of the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.

His novels form a series featuring DCI Tom Caton and his team. They are all part police procedural, part crime thriller. All seven can also be read as a stand alone novels.

Born in London with four generations of Metropolitan Police behind him - his grandfather was a founding member and head of the Flying Squad - he moved North forty odd years ago, and fell in love with the people, the countryside, and the City of Manchester. He tries to capture the spirit, exuberance, and history of the region in his novels, as well as some of the dark underbelly of the city in which Caton works. His work with the Manchester City Council Education Department included liaision with Greater Manchester Police on a wide range of issues including setting up the first system of Police School Liaison Officers in the UK, initiatives related to Drugs Crime, Knife Crime, Racial Harassment, and Gang Crime.

He reads voraciously across a range of genres, but his favourite crime and thriller writers include; Michael Connelly, Harlan Coban, Ian Rankin, Tess Gerritsen, Andrea Camilleri, Donna Leon, Dennis Lehane, George Pelecanos, Ed McBain,James Elroy,Elmore Leonard, Peter Robinson, Peter James, Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, Kathy Reichs, Val McDermid, Lee Child, Jeffrey Deaver, P D James, John Le Carre, Gerald Seymour...
