Bill Corbett is an award winning professional speaker who has been speaking since 1995. He has been on stages across the U.S. for everything from brief lectures to keynote speeches to multi-day training events. He is a regular contributor to network television affiliates, and produces and hosts his own television show. Bill is an award-winning author, writes a syndicated column, produced the Top-Notch Presentation Skills training video, lectures on leadership and communication skills, and provides coaching to individuals who aspire to develop their speaking business skills. After traveling and lecturing nationally for several years, Bill sat down and wrote this book in response to something audience members said to him over and over: “I want to do what you do. How do I do it?” His newest book on starting speaking business is a step-by-step blueprint for re-inventing yourself, using your expertise to start a speaking business and bringing your passion to the world! The methodology of Bill Corbett's parent education program is inspired by the published studies of psychologists Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs, and is centered on the approach that effective discipline first requires a solid understanding of why children behave the way they do. Adler believed that once the child felt like she had a place in the family social structure, there would be less misbehavior and more cooperation. "Misbehavior is communication," Dreikurs, a student of Adler, wrote in his book Children The Challenge and this communication must be interpreted in order to use discipline effectively. As a member of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP), Bill's step-by-step methods are based on a firm AND respectful approach to discipline that assists parents and professionals in rebuilding their discipline toolboxes for raising cooperative and responsible children. Bill Corbett is the author of the book Love, Limits, & Lessons® and the founder and president of Cooperative Kids. The book is designed as a quick reference guide for adults in handling challenging behavior and is now available in a Spanish translation edition. Bill has a degree in psychology from University of Phoenix, sits on the resource advisory board of Attachment Parenting International, and is the former creator and host of the radio talk show Parent Talk in Nashville, TN. He created the Love, Limits, & Lessons® parent education course on discipline that is taught by instructors nationwide, and writes a syndicated column offering behavior advice that can be found in many parent magazines in Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, and New England. Bill has three adult children, two grandchildren, and lives with his wife Elizabeth near Hartford, CT.
