After attending the University of Wisconsin, Ben Biddick enlisted in the United States Army following the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. He served as a combat medic and military policeman in Iraq and performed Emergency Management Operations for the State of Wisconsin. Following military service, Biddick served as a civilian law enforcement officer focused on the prevention of domestic violence, the exploitation of children in the form of human trafficking, and criminal gang membership. He also served as a Crisis and Hostage Negotiator and has nearly 20 years of experience serving others as a nurse in civilian, military, and correctional healthcare environments. During the pandemic he performed crisis intervention services in hopes of preventing suicide and acts of mass violence as people grappled with rapid societal change, dehumanization, and political polarization that continues to impede practical solutions to lethal and less than lethal challenges in America. Ben recently co-authored Get Up: The Art of Perseverance with Adam Greenberg a former Major League Baseball player for the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins. Together they share the powerful history of how Greenberg persevered through the pain and struggle resulting from being struck in the head by a 92 mile-an-hour fastball during the pre-concussion protocol era of Major League Baseball. Adam’s perseverance to get “back to the Bigs” led to his spectacular and often-chronicled return to the Major Leagues in a Marlin’s uniform. Drawing from interviews with sports, business, and media legends like Dusty Baker, David Bell, Brad Ausmus, Peter Gammons, David Sampson, Steven Hearn, Coach Mike Fox, and Matt Lauer, Greenberg and Biddick share how some of life’s most painful moments can become some of the most positive and most powerful. Today Ben advocates for healthcare equity, develops common-sense approaches for humane medical and mental health care, and is dedicated to creating proactive solutions to societal challenges including dementia care, aging in place, caregiver burnout, violence prevention, and suicide prevention. He is an author, public speaker, and consultant who strives to transform the effects of trauma into power bases of positive change, recovery, and empowerment. As the owner of Ideal State Consulting LLC, he uses his Master's Degree in Performance Improvement and experiences to assist individuals and organizations create a more just and noble America worthy of the honorable men and women who built it and continue to build it every day. As a serial media content creator, Ben created and hosted the www.getupnationpodcast.com where he helped individuals, organizations, and societies develop and sustain resilience and perseverance by interviewing professional athletes, legendary chefs, ultra-successful entrepreneurs, trauma survivors, Veterans, and more. His second podcast was called The Resilient Caregiver: Empowering Those Who Serve People Diagnosed with Dementia available for listening at https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theresilientcaregiver. During his service at the Aging & Disability Resource Center, Ben hosted guests including legendary dementia caregiver and educator Karen Stobbe and Chef Danielle Sepsy of HBO Max's The Big Brunch which gained notice by the Emmy nominated staff at Muddhouse Media (https://muddhousemedia.com/). Although the Aging & Disability Resource Center was either unable or unwilling to invest in a partnership between the two, it was inspiring for Biddick's work to be recognized and sought after by people of such incredible talent. Care Partner Radio is an empowerment tool Ben created for caregivers and care partners.
