Our story began with our founder coming to the United States as a foreigner – and his inspirational story.
When Juan Carlos Berrios Ramón emigrated from Spain, he was barely able to borrow money for his ticket and some money for two months to come by. He wanted to make it in the US but was almost facing homelessness, since he couldn’t pass any job interview, due to his poor language skills.
Dreading the notoriously boring language exercises but knowing his survival depended on being able to speak fluently, Juan found a language book, lying on the ground close to a church, where he spent his days praying. What he discovered in that book, changed his life forever. That language book was incredibly insightful, and massively easy. Most important: It was so engaging that it made him break through his plateau since it made learning not a chore to be accomplished but an adventure to be experienced.
Juan absorbed the whole book nearly nonstop. He was able to pass his upcoming interviews and it landed him a high paying job.
He never forgot the unique power of a highly engaging and easy to consume language book. And years later, Juan Carlos Berrios Ramón founded Authentic Language Books to share that unforgettable experience with the rest of the world.
