Anna is the award-winning author of crime, historical and Gothic novels. She also writes legal thrillers under the name Anna Sharpe. Her debut novel, The Unseeing, won an Edgar Allan Poe award. Her latest, The Book of Secrets, won the CWA Gold Dagger for Best Crime Novel of the Year. Her fourth, the House of Whispers, won the Fingerprint Award for Best Historical Crime. Her bestselling third novel, The Clockwork Girl, was nominated for various awards including the Dublin Literary award. Her novels explore the impact of crime and injustice and her influences include Sarah Waters, Daphne du Maurier and Shirley Jackson. When not writing or teaching, Anna is a human rights and criminal justice solicitor, working with survivors of crime.
