My name is Angelica Romero. I was born in the Dominican Republic and migrated to the United States with my parents during my early childhood. Even as a young child, I displayed a keen interest in science, math, and understanding psychology, influenced by witnessing my oldest brother's struggles with mental health. Raised by a resilient, optimistic single mother of five children, I've always admired her strength. Despite financial challenges, my mother, a true inspiration, navigated the difficulties of raising us independently until she met my stepdad, who became a crucial support for our family. Her story taught me that anything is possible with hard work, love, and dedication. From a young age, I harbored a profound desire to impact others' lives positively. Growing up in an immigrant family with limited resources, I recognized the transformative power of education. This realization led me to join the military, where I pursued my educational goals and embarked on a journey that exposed me to a diverse tapestry of cultures, backgrounds, and religions. My military experiences opened my eyes to the richness of human diversity, appreciating how our differences make each person uniquely fascinating. However, I also acknowledged that these beautiful differences can sometimes lead to internal and external conflicts. Considering life's intricacies—from childhood to adulthood, the various experiences and influences that shape us—I became motivated by a deep understanding of the complexities of human experience. Motivated by this understanding, I deliberately chose to become a social worker. My mission is to contribute to positive change on a global scale, one person at a time. Through empathy, understanding, and dedicated service, I aim to navigate the complexities of individuals' lives, offering support and fostering positive transformations in the face of life's challenges.
