Alison Lohans

Alison Lohans

I've been writing since early childhood, and was first published at the age of 12. Born and raised in Central California, I moved to Canada in 1971, and hold dual citizenship. I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, and belong to a number of writers' groups.

To date I've published 26 books for children and teens, with Canadian and New Zealand publishers. Book number 27 due in June 2019, to be published in Australia. Several of my books have been finalists for various awards, and This Land We Call Home (published by Pearson Education New Zealand in 2007) won the 2008 Saskatchewan Book Award for Young Adult Literature.

I've done a thousand or so author presentations in schools and libraries, have taught writing, and served as Writer-in-Residence at Regina Public Library. I do a bit of editing as well.

For those who are interested in writing, I'd recommend:
- read, read, read!! - and figure out what it is that works, and what doesn't work so well
- write, write, write!
- find some writer friends and form a critique group
