I originally began writing Legends of Andolin because, when I asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday, she requested I write a story for her to pass the time with. She didn't really specify what kind, just that it would need to be a very long series. So I took my original ranger character and made a new little world for her to live in, gave her some problems to overcome, some friends to interact with. I combined all my favorite parts of the stories I love most: A hero and heroine who are complete opposites, adventures on horseback, mysterious islands, pirates ("reavers"), sea caves, ancient tombs and magical artifacts, and, most importantly, sea monsters. I don't think I could write a book without sea monsters. My sister read along as I wrote it, chapter by chapter, in weekly updates. As the months passed, it became a whole book, the first in a planned series, though I had never expected anyone to read it aside from her. When I finished polishing it up, my husband encouraged me to publish it independently. After all the hard work, it did seem a shame if it never saw the light of day. And so, here we are!
