Scottish/American immigrant: Author, A. J. Curtis, comes from a family of writers. He lives with his wife and 3 frogs. He loves history, his 5th career choice would be a history prof at a university. He surfs & travels extensively, speaks 5 and a half languages and is a foodie. He believes in God, the Universe, a fine whisky! (Yes, this is the correct spelling of whisky!). And a cold Japanese beer, on a hot day! Reader quotes and reviews: Memoirs of a Monster. Mind blowing! Intoxicating! An epic journey through history. I couldn't put it down. Curtis's way with words are nothing less then enchanting ! I ached for the next page, and then the next. Turn me! Turn me! Convincing ! Sophisticated ! Emotionally potent! I was absolutely drawn in. A must read ! It would seem at first, that the only way one could write a piece of prose, with such elegance and conviction, is only if they had lived it. Which as crazy as it sounds, leads me to wondering... Is the author (not to give anything away) a beast? To read something and find myself at the end of it, questioning my own belief system and sanity! Can only mean that what was laid before me, was profoundly well written.... The first sex scene, OMG! Worth it just for that! I hadn't been intimate with my husband for over a year, since our daughter was born. Let's just say he's very happy I found this book! Thank you A. J. Oh and the story is fantastic. Curtis seduces you with his words, seduces you deeply into his world. Against my better judgement I found myself wanting, and went willingly where he lead me. His descriptions are simple, and yet so powerful that you can see nothing but what he wants you to see. I walked the streets of London in the 15th, century. I felt the cold of civil war Baltimore, to the point that I needed a blanket to continue reading. I read this months ago! And still I am haunted and wondering...
