What a sweet story of hope love and redemption. This story has it all humor, romance and a cast of characters that you would love to meet. If you love a well written opposites attract story this is a book for you.
Peyton lane is wanting a clean slate after being in prison, but it's easier said than done. Luckily, someone took a chance on her. Fast forward three years later, and she moves back to her hometown, where it all happened to try and reconnect with her brother. There, she moves her risque business next door to Juliette Jennings, who owns a respectable stationary store that is floundering.
Peyton is outgoing and friendly and gets along with everyone while Juliette is uptight and sticks to her schedule like it's a law.
They meet, they clash at first as they are like oil and water, but they balance each other out. Peyton gets Juliette to explore more and get out of her comfort zone while Juliette has Peyton feeling all the feels after going so long on auto pilot.
Low angst and the chemistry between them is very hot. I love all of Brayden's books, but this one delved into something deeper, and I think she pulled it off well. It was very well written, and I would recommend 👌
Peyton carries a lot of baggage for the crimes she committed and went to prison for. After being given a chance by an older woman, she works hard enough to be offered the chance to buyout the lingerie store where she’s worked since leaving prison. And when she buys out Cotton Candy and moves the store from Dayton to Landonville, she really begins to heal. The store owner next door, Juliette, starts off mildly annoyed at the idea of a lingerie shop right next to her own store, but that quickly changes, annoyance gives way to interest then to attraction and then love.
But then there’s a robbery. Peyton’s past comes up, and hers was the only store not robbed. Did Peyton do it? How will Juliette react? And can a budding new love survive a moment of suspicion, fear, and uncertainty?
Melissa Brayden has written a wonderful book. This might, in my opinion, be one of her best yet.
This book is very well written. The characters were realistic. I enjoyed the serious parts and funny parts of the story equally. Many thanks to the author!
I know why Ms. Brayden,s stories always make me cry. It's because she's a fantastic writer and makes us (readers) care about her characters, as if they our own loved family member, friend, or girlfriend.
Peyton and Juliette. Two complete opposites. One a felon, the other straightlaced. Peyton is vivacious and outgoing knowing what 4 yrs in prison can be like. Juliette divorced from a man after she realized she was into women. But still best friends with him. She owns and runs a stationary store that's barely surviving. When next door to her shop opening up is a lingerie store, owned and run by Peyton. This story is about finding yourself, which both women do, and each other. This is a heartwarming, loving story. 5 stars!
Have you ever wondered if selling greeting cards could be sexy? This book will give you all the answers to that question. This was truly a fun heartfelt read and in true Melissa Brayden fashion you are going to laugh and cry your way through this book. Peyton’s story of redemption was beautifully told. I loved the idea of the past not defining us and the need for a path forward to a hopeful future. The interaction between Juliette and Peyton about “evolving” Juliette’s greeting card business is hilarious.
I absolutely loved both Juliette and Peyton. Peyton was outgoing and personable. Juliette was quiet and led a fairly solitary life. Neither wanted anything other than the life they had at the moment. No changes needed. I felt empathy for P. who had gotten herself into some serious trouble in the past. These two shared some very witty and very cute banter. Most enjoyable read. Loved how both did some changing of their ways. Highly recommend this one because it made me smile and it made me happy!
Excellent love story with a redemption theme. The characters are complex and humanly flawed, but not inflexible. The drama is reasonable and not overplayed. I very much enjoyed reading this book.
