Holy smokes, what a great book. From beginning to end, there was drama, deceit, hidden agendas, sexy sessions, and twists to the plot. But even amid all the strife, Rhea has found her family and made friends who are loyal and trustworthy.

I feel so much for Khaos and his internal struggles with his relationship with Rhea and not giving his mother a chance to hurt Rhea. I am swooning so hard for Zen and his calm persona publicly and his Dom-like qualities in the bedroom. And that hospital/medward scene...🔥🔥🔥.

This was a good continuation in the series. There is an attempted SA in this book. Although it was mentioned something like that could occur in book 1, I really wasn’t expecting it to happen. And it was a little too detailed for my taste.

STEAM: 3/5 <> still  too slow-burn for a RH.
TRIGGERS: 3/5 <> language, moderate violence
ACTION: 2.5/5 <> some throughout, but majority near the end.

I wasn't as impressed with this one. On average, I read a 300+ page book in 2 days. (I mean, I gotta work; y'all😅).
While these books I've averaged 4-5 days. They just didn't inspire obsession. The author TELLS instead of SHOWS; making reading tedious. The one thing that kept me going? Khaos.
I need more Khaos in my life.
..... said no-one; ever. But I'm saying it, right now. Because OMGosh, Khaos is swoon. I LOVE EVERYTHING about his character. I said what I said; & I'm not sorry.  😆

PROS: phenomenal world & character arcs; vibrant, encompassing, complex, with endless possibilities.
>> K.C Kean is a British writer, writing in American setting. And she's done a great job researching & properly using American slang when her world's are based in America.
>> overall, the character build & descriptions are consistent.
>> the men of the Unit have distinct & consistent personalities. And any deviation in their personalities/reactions is addressed.

CONS: Author could benefit from a formal writing seminar/class to improve aspects of the writing that require "traditional" grammar.
HORRIBLE GRAMMAR
>> K.C Kean is phenomenal when it comes to creativity. But the use, lack of use, improper use of commas, semi-colons, plural possesive, and run-on sentences is abundant.

And then the OVERUSE of PHRASES.
The exact same phrase is used waaay too often, and too close together within chapters.
Examples:
>> I wet my lips, bite my lips, swipe my tongue over my lip
>> I'm here for it.
>> "Eff me" [I think the FMC used this phrase like 10X within one chapter]
There are some inconsistencies. Though fewer, compared to previous books of hers, there are a couple prominent ones.
>> Rhea's attitude toward her guys flip-flops way to severely, and to often.
>> The discussion on contraceptives could have been smoother. It was mentioned to Xander in book-1. So his reaction in this book is Mildly excessive.

Would I Recommend?
Welllll, I'm still enjoying this cleverly woven world. And I already bought the FULL series. (I had high hopes🤷🏾‍♀️)
So, I would recommend, but with conditions. My enthusiasm toward the recommendation will depend on how the next couple of books pan out

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG, I am completely obsessed with this series and these characters

I had to give myself the night to sleep on this book after I finished because my head was full of thoughts. So. Many. Thoughts. I was only about 15% into the book and I was already having theories, and that just continued throughout the book. This book starts where Reckless Souls left off so some of my questions were immediately answered along with some other questions I had that popped up throughout the book. Of course, I then ended up with even more questions by the end. Just like with Reckless Souls, I was sucked into the book from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I was finished. Even then I wanted, no I NEEDED, more!

I love the growing dynamic between Rhea and the guys and that we get to know more about them. I couldn’t pick a favorite before I started this book and it’s still kinda that way, but Khaos, y’all, he’s giving me some serious Saint Memphis vibes from the Everlake Prep books, you know, before he pulled his head out of his *$$ (IYKYK). Let’s just say that he is aptly named because he causes absolute chaos with my emotions throughout this entire book. This is when the ability to reach through the book and smack a character would come in handy! He seriously needs a good smack upside the head so that maybe he would pull said head out of his *$$. I love how grumpy and broody Xander is until he looks at Rhea and then noticeably softens, but only with her. Who knew that Zen was such a dirty talker! I was definitely surprised by it, but boy oh boy was I here for it. And Adonis is like this needy, attention seeking puppy, which I was not expecting after the first book. He truly is the golden retriever character of the group and I love it.

Honestly, I could go on and on about this book I loved it so much. This is only my second KC Kean book and I’m so glad that I found another author is that has turned into an auto buy for me. Not to mention I pimp these books like crazy to anyone that will that listen to me, and even to those that don’t. I can’t wait for the next book to come out in October, at least I have her backlog to help keep me occupied until then.

This is the second book in KC's paranormal series and I can say Im so happy with it. She's done an amazing job balancing all the things needed in a book IMO. I like some steam **cough cough** smut in my books and it definitely delivers, but not in a dark way. When it comes down to it the guys get down and dirty but really worship the FMC as they should. At this point they're trying to figure out how to balance being a unit - they're neediness, possessiveness and obsessiveness.

My favorite character arc so far has been Adonis. He went from a sexual sucking incubus, which he still is but only FOR his girl now. I love it. His new found neediness is also hilarious to me, grumbling about wanting to be beside her and showing up in her bed unannounced.

It's also really cool to see how all of their powers have developed, and how powerful they are.

At this point, we're getting into the drama - the FMC origins of Zeus and Nyx as bio parents. Xanders parents being disappointed in his new relationship and our favorite vampire Chaos having parental drama as well. Im so ready for Mrs. Black to be utterly obliterated by their unit. I hate that they're all struggling in their own way.

You can see how well all 5 of them fit in this book. The only one who seems to have a good fam dynamic is Zen, but after he's bonded and his powers show up Im sure there will be tension SOMEWHERE. So here we are, all a unit, but a holdout in Khaos. He wants her but can't have her.

And that cliffy oh em gee, who the heck just showed up. I was like waiiiiiiit. Who? I mean there should be only one person but anything is possible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The plot thickens!

Rheas life is a straight 💩 show and I feel bad for her. Book 2 picks up right after book one and everything has ramped up! The mystery, the action, annnnd the spice! My only complaint here is Zellus. For not being a member of the The Hex I’m not sure how his undermining is tolerated when it directly makes this new world order leadership look weak and irresponsible? Aside from that I practically ate this book up and again, it’s not one that would be entirely memorable long term it’s still extremely enjoyable! Being a solid 4⭐️ with spice now also 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I CANNOT HANDLE THIS.

Look, I don’t need a long review for this one. It’s the next in a series. We get some answers, we get more questions, WE GET A JAW DROPPING CLIFFY.

Yes, I cringe at the whole ‘sex to recharge my magic’ scene, but damn did I forget that awkwardness when Zeus had to go and drop that bomb. Wowza. Yup. Book 3 is already open, thank you KU.

I freaking LOVE this series! It is one of my favorites because it is so unique and nothing like I have read before. I love Rhea, Khaos, Adonis, Xavier and Zen. They way their relationships mesh is

This series has no slow parts. I have not been bored once when reading. There is action, spicy and not, from page one. I have yelled at this book, been in almost tears, cheered and been annoyed that SOMEONE won't get his head out of his ass and give in (I know, I KNOW, there are reasons behind it but I NEED IT.) There is a bit of revenge in this one and we also learn more about the different supernaturals and their gifts. This series is one giant puzzle and with each reveal, I question what really happened and what will happen.

The last 30ish% was WILD. I am talking WTF is happening and WHY?!? I was left with more questions than answers with the end of this one. I can only speculate about the end since there are ZERO clues as to who it is. I cannot wait until October, BRING ON Vicious Souls!!

Damaged Souls is such an amazing second book in the Saints Academy series! I didn't think it was possible but I love these characters even more. Be prepared for hardcore swooning, badassery, shocking revelations, many enemies, action, mystery, and all the glorious spiciness.

Rhea deals with A LOT in this book and it seems she cannot catch a break. I felt myself so angry for her but the support she receives from the Elites (Xander, Adonis, Zen, and Khaos) make it all better. 🥰 These possessive, caring, yet dominating guys are everything in this book and I can no longer choose a favorite.

Overall, we get more insight into Rhea's origin but the big questions are the how, what, and why. We also get more insight into the guys, their powers, their families, and this supernatural society. I feel like the more revelations that come out in this story, the harder things get for Rhea and the Elites. It honestly kept me at the edge of my seat & after that shocking revelation right at the end, I have more questions! I am highly anticipating book three and cannot wait to see what happens!

Yet another fantastic book. I love Rhea. I love that she’s been independent and alone for so long, but when it comes to the Elites she is willing to be protected, taken care of, and let them in. She still doesn’t let them walk all over her, but there is a balance. She has now sealed her soul to 3 of the 4, but her magic wants them all. She needs them all, and though Khaos isn’t cooperating, getting a peek inside his head makes me almost love him the most. Once he gives in and let’s himself feel for Rhea, all bets are off! The other 3 guys are amazing. Adonis is charming, happy, and playful. Xander is protective and possessive. Zen is a closet dirty talker and I am here for it!! There are a lot of unanswered questions, and like Rhea, I’m getting really tired of Zellus’ crap. What is Dante’s deal? What is the ultimatum from Xander’s parents going to result in?? I can’t wait to get some of these questions answered in the next book!!

It was good, but the gap between the guys relationship with the FMC is too long. She develops the relationship with two of the guys and towards the end the third one, but nothing with the final guy. It became boring and monotonous. When you have four guys it brings variety and it’s taking too long. I hope the third book is much better.
