How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Both fascinating and practical

Such an interesting and enlightening read!

The Social Brain draws from eclectic examples - orchestras to the military, FTSE 100 companies to schools - to explain group dynamics. The authors deconstruct what makes make groups successful and and what leads to trust and a greater sense of belonging.

Gleaned so many insights that I can use in my social life and professionally... Would recommend to anyone who has
wondered why some groups flourish while others fail.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating book

The Social Brain is a fascinating book with a theoretical framework that is strengthened by its grounded application to real life experiences. I enjoyed the applicability to a wide range of organisations and groups and how it encouraged reflection on one's own experience of what makes groups successful.

Having no connection whatever with the business world, I never thought to find myself reading - let alone finishing - a book such as The Social Brain. However, thanks to its down to earth style and the range of contexts from which the authors draw their evidence, it is an engaging and illuminating read, applicable in so many areas of life and work. As the authors admit, much is enlightened common sense; but how much that is needed today!

An absolute tour de force traversing all aspects of our need to connect socially at work to be at our most productive. The authors, coming at their subject from the twin peaks of theory and practice, lay out brilliantly for the reader the brain limits of scale per task and all that those insights imply for organisations. 5 is a key number, as are 15, 50 and 150. Without appreciating this fully in all its nuanced complexity, leaders won't be able to implement the social strategies that they need to help their organistions thrive. The Dunbar Number certainly has gone to work here.

So, I am generally not a fan of 'management' books. - but this ticked so many boxes - how to look at organisations and the social groups within them differently and then - more importantly - what to do with this information grounded in case studies and evidence . If you are a consultant or working in an organisation, this will help you think differently about the various groups that exist, how to build relationships and performance in a new way.
