The first part of the book is a bit rough but Raxor gets back into his flow after a bit and it's smooth space sailing after that.
Bruce is now in the thick of it trying to save humanity from the aliens with the help of his gorgeous and talented women. Way more sweaty skin-on-skin fun in this book.
If you liked the first one you will like this one and are going to be ready to sink your teeth into book three as soon as this one is done.

I liked this book. It remains an outstanding space opera with a terrific and intense main character, with intriguing love interests, particularly the AI and the new privateer. Some have complained that this book involves a lot more administrative stuff, and it does, but it didn't bother me and was necessary for the story. There was still plenty of exciting action and character development. The thing that bothered me was the intimate scenes. It's not that there was too much, it was mainly that they didn't actually add much to the story or character development. They are the kinds of scenes you can just flip past (and I did for most of them since they were a mixture of unexciting narrative combined with uncomfortable kinks seemingly put in for no reason other than the author thinking they ticked certain fan-service boxes). Don't get me wrong. I like a little spice in these kinds of stories, but I like them to have more emotion and to actually mean something.

Don't mean to end on a down note, though! This is a fun, exciting, well-plotted story with engaging characters, and I am looking forward to start reading the concluding volume.

A good second book in the series though I don't think quite up to the standards of the 1st one. A lot more women and a lot more loving in this 1 but unfortunately a lot more politics. Though there are quite a few battles to enjoy and certainly some of the new faces enjoy the battles as well which is good. However there's a lot of political And empire building In between. That's a bit tedious but necessary for the story. Very difficult as the MC is an emperor at least in name. However he is a doer and an action guy. Generally emperors aren't allowed on the front lines so he has to sneak out which is kind of fun. As usual there are plenty of shenanigans and just enough technology upgrades to help them with an overwhelming war. I certainly enjoyed the book and will look forward to the next 1 in the series.
