I devoured all 3 House Witch books in under a week. They made me laugh and cry and unlike so many books today I had no idea what was going to happen next. They are truly a fun, charming series and I can’t wait until the new book is published.

As for the readers who had issues with the usage of them and they when referring to a singular person the only confusion is the reader’s grasp of grammar. In those instances the author was describing someone but didn’t want to state the sex so used them or they to keep the character’s identity a mystery. Unfortunately the readers who complained are just advertising their own ignorance as this is proper grammar. In fact according to the Little Blue Book of Grammar, arguably the most respected authority on grammar, they state: “Rule 11b. When rewriting is not practical and gender-neutrality is desired, use they, them, their, themself, or themselves with singular nouns, proper nouns, and pronouns. (This is sometimes referred to as the singular they, which has a long history in the English language.)”

So if you are thinking of buying these delightful books please don’t let the reviews about “poor grammar” stop you. The grammar is just fine.

I feel the need to begin by stating, I only picked this up for some light reading, compared to other books I'm currently reading. I most certainly didn't anticipate taking as much pleasure in it as I did.

As is quite typical in this genre, world and character building are always the top two significant and crucial factors that should start being addressed in the storyline and built upon immediately, working in the direction of laying the ground work for the rest of not just the1st book, but the complete series to come, whether it's a duology, trilogy, or lengthier body of work.
Delemhach exhibits a remarkably gifted, and structured, conceptualization regarding just exactly how to deliver this to the reader!

Furthermore, it’s customary in this genre, where there's a few characters introduced to help streamline the plot-line forward. It’s easy to comprehend, in all likelihood, these characters will not be figured heavily into the main narrative, but there's enough particulars provided to make the reader feel as if they didn't just suddenly appear out of nowhere, in an effort to fluff up the book, and/or add to the page numbers. Just enough disclosure is presented to transition from one particular scene to another, but you know better than to allow yourself to become overwhelmed, distressed, and encumbered, by too many characters to keep track of now and in the future.

I became enamored with the central cast of characters, and eagerly anticipate more details to materialize.
That would include the protagonists, and the antagonists. There's nothing better than loathing and despising a wicked villain, or even two or three. And of course, it’s a necessity to have the Heroine/Hero to have reverence for, as they also provide encouragement and inspiration. They may not get everything right, but they tend to try to do what’s considered noble, gratuitously honorable, upstanding, and admirably beneficial for the greatest number.

The family aspect with the monarchy consisting of the king, queen, the 7 year old heir apparent, as well as the mother soon expecting to add another little one, is a nice touch. Especially since they all play key roles with both of the main characters, is just perfect.

On top of everything else, I was substantially pulled off guard with the addition of Fin's parents with the considerable prospect bearing significant weight, to what could be a formidable and prominent topic later on in the series. Even better since one is atrocious and the other is benevolent. Delemahach does a superb and impressive job in captivating the reader with this potential.

I wholeheartedly savoured this book, from page 1 to the end. The one thing I had a significant difficulty with, emerges to be more of the norm, rather than the occasional convention.
Supposedly Amazon is to have some sort of policy that is expected to assist and help enforce the discouragement of authors from pulling this unscrupulous marketing strategy. When it still shows the book is at 92-96%, and has 4-8% left, only to turn the page and find out its over, it can be a tremendous diminution. Instead it's filled with acknowledgements, and all about the author.
Is this case, in addition to that, it was something like 93 page flips of book 2, something like 3 chapter’s worth, with a few more pages devoted to the aforementioned acknowledgements and author info. HUGELY DISAPPOINTED!!!

It happens to be one of my pet peeves, and I had to take time off in between finishing the book and posting my review. I seriously wanted to knock an entire star of the rating!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Read!

This book quickly drew me into its world and I couldn't put it down. I read a lot of fiction across many genres and "The House Witch" was a refreshing romp. There are elements to the story other authors have used but the characters and plot here '"cooked up" a unique and satisfying meal. At the beginning, the story seemed in no rush to go anywhere and that may annoy some readers. But I was completely charmed and enjoyed every word. If you find yourself getting impatient, please keep reading. As long as you're not expecting Hollywood style explosions, you'll fall under the House Witch's spell. One minor issue was that Kraken the cat's conversation and adventures seemed to go nowhere. Perhaps these elements are crucial to the next book in the series. Thanks to KindleUnlimited, I'll find out soon. "The House Witch" is a delightful addition to my "Will Read Again" Collection!

I wasn't sure I would enjoy this book, but I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. The story had me laughing to the point of tears at times with the antics of the characters, especially Fin Ashowan. At other times, I was nervous about the treatment Fin would receive if anyone found out he was a witch due to how he was treated as a child. It turns out that he has none people in his corner than even he could imagine. This book turned out to be wonderfully amazing, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I have just started reading this, and it is a fun read. However, the author may know a lot about cooking but not much about gardening. In one chapter the king and queen are discussing the roses that are about to bloom, but Fin is in the kitchen cutting up fresh pears. Really?? Pear trees bloom in the spring and don't set fruit until late summer. I know because I have pear trees. And the fruit spoils really fast. Unless they have an amazing trade system, this just isn't going to happen. Wish the author would have checked her sources. Obviously buys pears from the store!

This book is a gem. The first in a trilogy, it introduces us to a host of characters who interact with Fin, the royal cook, who also is a house witch. You get totally wrapped up in the stories and adventures. The ending leaves you begging for more. I only wished I was able to taste some of Fin's food as the entire castle could not stop raging about it. I just wonder what was in it and the Trouble clown wine that could entice a noblewoman to love...

This is book is the perfect cozy story for me. It has the right amount of fluff mixed with the right amount of struggles and scenario.

There are quite a lot of characters to keep track of, but not in an overwhelming way. Most of them have distinct personalities and unique relationships with one another (except for the group of knights, I'm sorry dear author but I will keep mixing them up).

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series !

Fans of Ilona Andrews will love this. The main character feels like a male version of Kate Daniels with the way he tends to put his foot in his mouth and grates on everybody's nerves with powers that are reminiscient of the Innkeepers (being limited to the house and all). But instead of a dystopian or contemporary setting everything is mediaval.

The narration is rather slow progressing but there are many heartwarming scenes and a lot of loveable characters as well as funny moments. I especially loved Kraken's perspective (yes, the cat) and all the shennanigans going on there.

So, if you are looking for a light read, with adorable characters and a good portion of hilarious moments, this is for you.

Love Fin and Annika so much! The book was slow to get fully into but I'm so glad I kept reading. Fin had me laughing a lot, as did many of the characters. I disliked the trio of knights at first, then they grew on me the more the worked in the kitchen. Great character development with each of the characters. Hannah is amazing and surprisingly feisty. The queen was really sweet as was Kraken. I loved Reese's performance at the end, that was amazing and fun. The final chapters were amazing and incredibly sweet. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series and other books.
