What a great book for a new series!! very interesting characters and unique plot! You can't help but identify with the struggles of the lead detective, with her home situation of being a caregiver, mother, wife, plus her work! I liked the way she gave us snippets of the criminals background, all which led up to the crimes committed. Highly recommend!!
The story was good. Good reading with a good plot. It says something when a parent says hurtful things to her child and keep drilling it in them, no self confidence where they grow up totally dysfunction. Today we see many with the use of drugs. Good story good reading. Well done
I enjoyed The Eye Thief. Author M K Farrar has written an interesting book with stories that runs parallel over the course of time. The question is what is the connection between two abused boys and a female detective, DI Erica Swift. I do plan to read the next book in the series, The Silent One. I hope it keeps my interest as much as this one.
Looks like I found a new author to read and follow. I started this book this morning and read it on and off all day, and I was determined I was going to finish it. What a great read! Very intense! Plenty of twists, !one an unexpected ending! Everything you want in a great crime thriller! Can't wait to read the next one in the series!
This book was a slow and steady read with a shocking end. A very good story. I'm probably going to read more of this series and check out this author's other work.
While the killer is known early on, the story was engaging enough to keep reading. Character development was pretty good, though Erica’s character felt a little two dimensional. Maybe she will get a little more character development in later books.
This story will keep you wanting to know 'what happens next?'
The author does an excellent job of crafting a convincing murder mystery that will keep the reader wanting more. She blends the story of a mad man stalking his prey on the streets of London and the personal battles the detective must face in her own life.
The main character has to choose between the demanding jobs of a homicide detective, mother, wife, and daughter to her father who needs her the most. Something has to give, she is only human. You have to buy the book to find out.
OMG fantastic book! I was on the edge of my seat at the end. Couldn’t read it fast enough. Farrar weaved a tale of suspense that I couldn’t put down. I loved how Farrar gave flash backs on the Eye Thief. I liked how the background gave an insight how Bailey became how he was. At times you really felt for Nicholas Bailey. I was speechless at the end! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Very disappointing, on so many fronts. Where to start? The perpetrator is already known by chapter 2, so the rest of the book really needed to pack a punch somewhere else to grab and keep attention. But it just never fired for me. There were lots of potential areas where I should have been able to relate to Emily but I felt no connection at all. Most of the other characters were barely or poorly developed, spreading the line up too thin, perhaps trying to shoe-hoorn in too many in readiness for the ongoing series. And all were unremittingly nice - even the stereotypical mysogenistic boss had little bite. The jeopardy, such as it was, felt contrived and was totally predictable. So irritating and yawn-inducing that I skip-read from chapter 3 onwards. I won’t be reading any more in this series.
I feel very sad for Erica. Why must she undergo such a miserable life? Why had her husband to be killed? I am wondering if the author has had a miserable life so that she could imagine such a scaring and miserable story?
I read the third book first and I liked it so much I decided to start at the beginning. I am looking forward to seeing how DI Swift and the others develop in the coming pages.
