Wow. The feels. The character growth. Duel pov showed just how much growth and connection was really going on. Lots of happiness achieved and not just with the romance. What a great story. Big age gap and beautifully written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-crafted story filled with lots of emotion!

Although I don't condone affairs, I understand the title very much. My title for this book might have been "Rotten Wife, Rotten Life!" It's a very sensitive story of Bellamy's failing marriage to her horrible law partner Kendra who's been unfaithful for many years. Frustrated, hurt and angry, Bellamy has a one night stand with Payton, a waitress where she was having dinner. Little did she know that Kendra had just hired her as their new paralegal/secretary. What a shock when she walks into work!

This is an emotionally challenging book to read. First, we have a terrible, rotten wife so the home life is miserable. Second, a very toxic work environment shrouded in some mysteries. Third, Payton is not only fighting for her job, but for custody of her young nephew. Phew! How Adrian juggled all this in one book, I'll never know, but it gives you all the "feels," was so well-crafted over a two year period of time, that I was really rooting for Bellamy and Payton to become a harmonious family! Very well done. I highly recommend this!

5.0 out of 5 stars A family in her future

While the title and cover design tease a salacious tale inside, this well-written story has much more to offer than sexy scenes. Smith crafts a sensitive story of Bellamy’s failing marriage to Kendra and their toxic law partnership.
Alongside, Bellamy meets and has what she plans to be a one-night stand with Payton. But Payton gets pulled into the drama when Kendra unwittingly hires Payton as the practice’s next — likely doomed — paralegal and secretary.
What ensues is much more than ugly office turmoil. As she fights to keep her job, Payton is also fighting for permanent custody of her nephew, and Bellamy begins to experience some of what she had hoped her life would include before losing herself in her marriage and career.
The story is well-paced with enough heat to make it romance-worthy and the depth of characters and plotting to make it a relationship classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for

This book was just the (mostly) feel good romance I needed. There were moments I was very uncomfortable reading, but that was the intention of those scenes I believe and they were handled with tact and a good dose of realism. Overall, it was a good story with really good character development, particularly for Bellamy who had a very complete character arch. More so than her love interest.
I read this coming off of a very dark and heavy book, and while it had some heavy themes, it wasn't particularly dark and much if it was quite sweet and easy to read. It was everything I needed, a good story and a but of an uplift after reading and more emotionally strenuous one.
I liked that it didn't follow the usual pattern of contemporary romance so it wasn't overly predictable, and it took place over the course of a year or two it gave the characters and plot the time they needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Admissible Affair
by Adrian J. Smith

This is the first book I have read by this author. It was the fact that I had gotten to know AJ through a Facebook group and had heard and enjoyed her reading from her works that had made me want to read a whole book of hers. The title of this particular one caught my attention because I was curious to learn why an affair would be deemed admissible, and the age gap trope is one of my favorites, too.

It was a captivating storyline that drew me right in, and a well written book that, in all, I can recommend reading. There was credible chemistry between the two MCs from the beginning, and it was quite understandable why they would feel drawn to one another. Payton, the younger one of the two, is mature beyond her years due to her life circumstances, and Bellamy has been trapped in an unhappy and abusive marriage for much too long. For any more details on the contents, please read the blurb - or the book.

What made me attribute four instead of the full five stars is the fact that I missed a revelation of the why that had been keeping Bellamy in this untenable situation for so long.

*SPOILER ALERT! Don't read beyond this if you want to let yourself be surprised while reading the book.*

The timeout of a year Bellamy is taking from her relationship with Payton after she has finally gotten divorced from her ex, could, in my opinion, have been used to highlight her personal background as to why she entered that kind of marriage in the first place, why she endured it for so long, and to describe the internal personal development that had to take place for Bellamy to be free enough from the constraints of her past to enter into a more healthy relationship with Payton. This lack of a somewhat more psychological depth in the development of Bellamy's character made reading the latter part of the book feel unnecessarily drawn-out for me.

I did enjoy this book even though I struggled with the unrealistic way some of the scenarios were dealt with and the grammar and typo errors, so much so that I considered giving up on it. All that being said, I am glad I did read on to the end and I actually really enjoyed the main idea of the story and the characters were very engaging. I will denfinitely be trying another book from this author and hope this was a one off where the editing was not quite up to scratch.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good story

This is a good story, it stutters in places and there were some aspects I didn't enjoy, such as pacing, hence why this isn't a 5 star review. However Bellamy and Payton are great characters, despite their age gap they work well together and this is well worth a read if you like age gap romance.
