4.0 out of 5 starsVery complete book on both greenhouses and the plants to grow in them

I am giving 4 instead of five stars mainly because there are no diagrams or illustrations. It is 100% text and quite frankly I do not understand some of the construction descriptions. A picture is needed for my not so brilliant mind. The good news is that those problems are mainly limited to unusual types of greenhouses and the text is adequate for the more common types (at least for me)
I am in the process of putting up my first greenhouse, a 26 ft. beast sitting right beside my Earth Garden, to accommodate the crops I intend to grow for my Chickens to offset the cost of food for the flock and I read this book to get the tips and information I needed to do it right and right away I learned a wealth of information on how to properly operate & grow from a Greenhouse.
I like that it includes information on Hydro-Gardening because we have the irrigation equipment for a complete hydro set up and we have been strongly considering it and the information in this book helped us make our final decision on that. It leaves nothing out when it comes to the little details you need to know.
I can't recommend this book enough if you are even considering a Greenhouse of any size, you don't need a large one to benefit from this book, even the most simple & small greenhouses can be improved with the help of this book. It's also very helpful to Earth Gardeners as well that don't have a Greenhouse.. LOTS of information that can help you too even if you don't own a Greenhouse but want to garden any type of plant.
In closing, this book is condensed with good and no fluff. It's quick & easy to read and gets right to the point so if you download it this morning you can be in your Greenhouse and using the information you learned this evening. 5 Star Book*****

Wow! I loved this book. It was written so well! I learned so much I didn’t even think I needed to learn. That’s awesome!! First I liked that it started with an explanation of what the book was about. Then it went in order of how you would go about getting a greenhouse. And the chapters were short and exactly to the point no big long laboring six page talk in circles thing. Right to the point and move on. That is exactly how I like a book. It also made me excited about doing a greenhouse. It made it normal and doable. I loved this book and would recommend it anyone who is interested in gardening or may be at some point in there life. It’s a good, informative easy read.
I learned so much from this book! I have always thought about building a greenhouse, but just didn’t know where to start. In this book, I learned that a greenhouse doesn’t just extend the growing season, but allows for a much more diverse gardening experience than I had envisioned. Black Thumb Greenhouse shows you what a greenhouse is, what it is for, and how it can benefit you in your health, in the environment, and even in your mental health.
There is great space spent on explaining exactly what materials you need, how to set it up, which kind to build (I didn’t know there were so many options), and how to manage drainage, irrigation, and even how to sanitize to prevent disease.
I can’t wait to put into practice all that I’ve learned. I highly recommend keeping a copy of this book close by for every gardener!
This book was right up my alley. In the past few years I have been increasing my small garden and could see myself growing my investment and beginning to wonder about greenhouses. I knew that there would be many things I had not considered and this book gave me a much better understanding of that. So while it was more daunting than I thought, I'm thankful to have read Black Thumb Greenhouse to see the problems I'd be facing more clearly.
The author certainly has a passion for this and has done the research necessary to make this book worth reading if you're a novice with greenhouses. I also really enjoyed the little Did You Know moments along the way that shared insights to gardening with historical facts.
