I was browsing 9gag and saw someone post about having just published their own book. I decided I'd be supportive and buy a copy. Of course, I had to reply to the post so I could get all those upvotes and finally feel like a decent human being. That all went as expected.
What didn't go as expected was the book. I read the entire thing in two sittings. It was really good. I was hooked. I have so little criticism on the story or writing style that they're not even worth mentioning. I don't usually read those underprivileged-boy-who-saves-the-world books but I have to say it didn't feel old at all. And the way the magic works reminded me of the Dark Tower series. Had King thought of this idea there is no doubt he would have incorporated it somewhere in those thousands of pages.
Where I do have criticism is the physical book itself. The book is large, the font is small, the line height is about 50% higher than it should be, the text is not justified. Working these issues out would not only make it easier to read, it would probably cut 30% off the thickness.
Blah, blah, blah. 10/10, would reccomend.
