I loved this book immensely. Love love love loved it! I’ve read this author before under a different pen name and genre, and I loved her work already, but this was something completely different, unexpected, and oh so wonderful. I wish it was longer. I didn’t want it to end.
About six months ago, I could swear that I will never read contemporary anything, let alone romance, and then several of my favourite authors decided to start writing contemporary romance that I simply had to read. By the time this book was announced I was already bouncing and looking forward to reading it. I knew the author was really good. And now after I finished it, I can say with confidence that I am a huge fan of contemporary romance, especially when it this well written.
The idea is sweet and wonderful without being over the top. The author presents two lovely people who have great lives at the moment, but didn’t always have it easy or good. They had their hardships, they worked hard, and they made great lives for themselves. They meet in a good moment, and the connection is there immediately, but without being insta-love or anything like that. There is no drama, or ridiculous grand gestures, just beautiful story full of friendly banter and very funny and entertaining situations. Okay there is a little bit of drama, you gotta have drama, but nothing over the top.
The author also did a great job on setting the scene and developing the characters. Everything that happens is natural and realistic, it just left me with the smile and feeling content. Each of the characters is amazing, but together, they are just perfect. The way they care about each other and have each other’s backs, it’s just super sweet.
This was a fantastic happy positive book, one of those you read with a smile on your face. The author promotes a positive body image and the ultimate self acceptance, and I love her for it. And although this is a standalone with a happy ending and no sequel, I will be eagerly anticipating whatever next the author decides to write and I know I’m going to love it.
