The only comfort I had with the iconic Bailey family series coming to a conclusion was the promise of this spin-off series and the Green family- the progeny of Ethel Greene, the bestie of everyone's favorite grandma, Grandma Dori.
This novella gives us a taste of what's to come in what already appears to be an equally complicated and equally lovable dynamic family. This story centers on Marla- who was once best friends with two cousins and unfortunately made the wrong decision when it came to getting romantic with one. Years later, after a failed marriage and an unfaithful husband, she and her kiddos come back home, putting her back in the sights of, you guessed it, the cousin she should have chosen. A widower and single parent of several kiddos.
Their reconnection is easy, but with so many kids in the mix, the real question is if they can blend their very large and complicated brood. And, of course, there's that pesky situation about Hank being related to Marla's heinous ex.
This is a delightful prequel that both sets this family apart while also comforting us to know that what we loved about the Bailey's will translate- small town, gossip, a lovable matriarch, the family first dynamic, and sweet and swoony love stories. Gonna love this series!
