Synopsis: Betrothed since childhood, Lady Pearyn Treedale has given up hope that her intended will ever come up to scratch. Then she meets a handsome stranger who may or may not be her newly discovered secret admirer... Cameron, the Duke of Partridgdon is finally back in England to stay and ready to settle down with Pear at his side. However, when she learns that the gentleman she's interested in is none other than her missing fiancee, will she ever be able to forgive his deception? Not to mention the reason behind his long absence?
My Opinion: Too Short! That is my overall impression of this story which I expected to be novella length and was instead disappointed to find a short story that only took me maybe an hour to read. The writing itself was okay and while Cameron and Pear were both likable, neither were well developed. Their romance too I found lackluster since only a handful of brief meetings didn't cut it for me. Yes they were attracted to each other but that's not love. Even the Christmas setting didn't feel very merry. On a positive note it was a fast read and clean too, but overall it just failed to ever engage my emotions. I simply didn't feel anything at all while reading this story and frankly I am not sure it was even worth the $0.99 I paid for it. Honestly I think three-stars is being a bit generous but since I didn't hate it, it seemed more fitting than downgrading it to two.
Side Note: This story also appears to be part of Ms. Brower's "Bluestockings Defying Rogues" Series, so if you've read those books you may like this novella more than I did. There seemed to be a half dozen or so people who are obviously from that series who pop up in this one.
Pages & Kindle Locations: The story itself contained 58 pages and ended at 57% and location 743.
