The shot flew past Ema’s face, just missing her but hitting Jesu in the throat. He toppled over the ledge and fell to the floor of the barn. Hastening down the ladder to Jesu, she was ripped from the rungs and a man sat across her stomach while he began squeezing and cutting into her neck to decapitate her! She recognized Jalmari’s attack style. He levitated them, blades still embedded in her neck, through the roof to escape the soldiers; as her vision darkened, she did a partial shift and surprised him with her huge, powerful wings. The extra strength allowed her to attack him and he disappeared as he phased.

Once again, he reappeared and came at her with blades. She shifted her head into a wolf which startled him enough that she could grab him and threw him to the outer wall of the barn. The Alpan soldiers from the castle then stunned him with a taser and applied electronic cuffs to his wrists. Ema returned to the barn but Jesu was gone and she raced to the castle to find him.

I absolutely love it when a book starts out deep into the wild action, guns a-blazin’ and everything happening at once! This is definitely one of those books! Fast-paced and full of suspense, the reader will love it! The roller coaster ride never stops! Twists and turns keep the reader constantly guessing as to what will happen next! As additional characters are introduced, you’ll either love them or hate them. There seems to be no boring bodies anywhere! This story line continues from previous books, and I assure you, it’s addictive! Grab a copy and enjoy a well written story that is well worth your time!

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book it just keeps getting better

I have been looking so forward to this book ever since i devoured DARK LIASONS. This is the continuing story of Ema, Jesu . Jalmari and the rest . The story picks up where Dark Liason left off. Ema and Jesu in the thick of things yet again. We are still at King Nicolas's castle where we get introduced to more characters, We get to know them pretty more in depth. You will love them or hate them but trust me you will never think of chocolate in the same way again. You will understand when you read. And bathroom sex will never be the same either. Again read the book to understand. Also you will really want to slap Bridget all the way through this book. She really annoyed me,
J.D takes us on some twists and turns in this book and i loved every one of them. From Ema 's pregnancy nightmare to the lovely date night . The scary moments of broken hearts and big battles . There is some thing in this book for everyone. There is a twist at the end that made me go OH MY GOD and shake my head . It will blow you away. The author just gets better and better with each book that she writes . So if you want a great book that will keep you reading late into the night check it out . I know you won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Ema Marx Novel series - kick butt and sassy urban fantasy

Book Review – Dark Becoming - Ema Marx Series (Book 3)
Author – J.D. Brown
Genre – New Adult, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance
First Line: The bullet missed my eye by two inches.
Review:
Ema Marx, a vampyre and pregnant, must face her nemesis again. Yep, Apollyon is back—that evil incarnate.
She’s dealing with much in this book, the truth about her feelings for Jesu and his for her, making “deals” with the Alpan King Nikolas to keep her friends safe, Jalmari’s raw hatred, and basically it all boils down to Ema’s reason for being. But there is absolutely nothing basic about these stories or this series.

Ms. Brown writes tension like a pro. Every book in the Ema Marx series is filled to the brim with it—good hard action, yummy secrets, twisting relationships, life and death events, a line-up of excellent story-stars, all in Ema’s point of view.

Ema’s kick-butt, sassy attitude struck the reader “in” me; I love following her around in these stories. Each one as great as the one before it; ) It’s like living in her vampyre shoes.

Try them on for size—one size fits all, and you won’t be disappointed in the Urban Fantasy design: )

Highly Recommended series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't Say Enough Without Spoilers

Ema Marx, can’t say enough good things about her and how she has been portrayed throughout this series. There are a couple characters here that I’d like to slap a couple hundred times though. Bridget would be high on my list. She needed to get a clue way before now where Jesu and Ema are concerned. Then you have Jalmari and is he off the shelf. If not for him attacking Ema to start with she might never be in the middle of all this. J.D. Brown has definitely caught my interest with her series. Spellbinding work!

I felt like Tyra and wanted to say "we were rooting for you, we were all rooting for you." That part of the book sucked, but I am glad that Ema and Jesu kept their bond. This book flowed really well. Probably the best written one to date (and I didn't notice any grammatical errors). I hate to say it,but I loved the character Val.
I am dying to find out how things play out with Lilith and what her game is as well as with the babies. Does both possess his essence or just one???
This was also the first book where the end didn't seem rushed. I also love how Ema handled the situation with Val, the crone and Apollyon. But with Nik dead, will the other kids sign the contract. SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!
