When I read author AE Murphy I have a fright that takes over because the HEA is not always what is expected.

This particular story did have a HEA that was 18 years in the making, the book begins and flashes to our 8 year old heroine and a vicious bully. Fast paced with plenty of sexy scenes thou the focus is on moving forward, growing and truths revealed for lies told, the drama behind this story made smile, laugh and most definitely cry, be ready for the angst I could not put this one down.

So, this starts off decently enough then just kind of takes that sharp nose dive into WTF waters. And please don't mention the grammar police, they were never there. The plot just seems to go every which way and I'm discovering I really am not digging this. How long can one hold a grudge? Apparently quite awhile and that’s just sad. 😔

Annoying as heck and severely lacking any real romance

I read this book through kindle unlimited and I have to say I found this book totally annoying. It wasn’t a satisfying romance or even life story. Almost every character spoke using terrible grammar which annoyed the heck out of me. And beside the poor grammar they use the word whore and curse words all the time even when they are young. I don’t think one conversation existed in this book without one or all three of those issues coming up. And the hero and heroine hardly ever had anything nice to say to the other at any age. There is a severe lack of romance in this novel. I trudged through reading to the bitter end but I can’t say I enjoyed it or got any satisfaction from it. Some terrible things happen to the heroine but by the time it came to the reveal I did NOT even care. And honestly the characters will not remain with me because I wasn’t really engaged at all in this story. Sorry this was just an average and truthfully annoying read to me. I personally do not understand all the high ratings.

AE Murphy certainly knows how to write a powerful, gripping story, full of angst, emotion and twists with complicated flawed characters. Vicious was a second chance, from childhood enemies to lovers bully romance with the perfect title.

I'm not normally that keen on bully romances to be honest as I struggle to fathom how someone can fall in love with someone who is that cruel and mean to them. However, this story was so much more than the childhood bully element. Hate and love can sit on such a fine line and I couldn't stop reading this book as I had no idea how these two could get through the pain and make it work.

Told mostly from Immys pov, the present was interspersed with flashbacks to the past. We saw how their relationship developed from the ages of 8 - 17, how anger, angst, pain and hate twists to their own take on love. There were times I hated Kane, he was vicious and cruel, but the other side of him was possesive, protective and caring in his own way. A little boy who thought he didn't deserve love, but the more I learned of him the more I understood him, even if I couldn’t ever condone some of his actions. What Imogen (Immy) goes through is shocking and horrific. How her own flesh and blood treated her was heartbreaking. Immy was messed up and broken but as she grew up she learnt to fight for herself and together these two were pure fire and explosive chemistry, even as young as they were! Kane and Immy somehow created this binding connection that was both toxic and healing.

I'm excited to read more from this author as she knows how to grab you and reel you in.

I've fallen in love with AE Murphy and her writings and the last few books shes written have kept me hooked and devouring every page so when I saw the blurb for this one I couldn't wait to jump in... and wow this story aswell brought me to my knees and left me begging for more!!

This book had a storyline that had me turning pages and loving the interaction of Kane and Immy from page 1 until the very last words.
These guys couldnt be together and couldnt be apart plain and simple.. they hated each other but it was obvious they that truly loved each other.. the only people who couldnt see it was them.
The chemistry was off the charts...and what I would do to have a man like Kane Jessop by my side!!
The story is told most from Immys POV with some others thrown in along the way giving you a great insight of what's going on and we get to see exactly how this story plays out from a young age to present day.

Jammed packed with every emotion you can think of this book has it all and more than once made me smile and my heart swoon.
Ae Murphy yet again i will say you lady are a writing genius!!!

I am in awe of what I just read. When reading the blurb of this novel, I was slightly confused, but once I dived into the novel, I couldn’t stop. This is one of those books I couldn’t put down if I tried. I actually hissed at my boyfriend who tried to take it out of my hands because of how far I had fallen in love with it. AE writing style was fantastic. I completely adored her use of words and how everything flowed together, especially the plot. This was my first time reading A.E Murphy and I have fallen in love with her use of words. The perfect Enemies-to-lovers romance.

I think a little piece of my heart will always be with Immy and Kane. This novel went from past to present, but my god, the transformation between these characters was astonishing. I was amazed by the end in how much these angry lovers had changed. It was so beautiful, so tragically beautiful their story was.
