5.0 out of 5 starsShut up I'm Reading

Wow, I thought book one was phenominal, well buckle up for book two, Dystopia, The Long Road. Very seldom have I found an author of Post Apoc books that I am hooked on, but Dee is one of them. There are bad things that can happen to good people and in this book she drives that point home! Riveting, can't put down page turner...Intelligent, thought provoking, concise, well researched...Dee gives you not only the story, but brings you in to love, hate, laugh and cry with her characters...a must read. I want more from this author...lot's more.

Good thought provoking story. Kept my interest, although I couldn't keep straight who was related to whom. I liked the quotes before each chapter that really made me think about the wider implications of our government's "handling" of a pandemic. The characters were well rounded and believable. The dialogue was a bit disjointed, but I still understood what was going on. It's a good portrayal of how the bad people will try to prey on the good people. There are useful references at the end of the book if you want to educate yourself on survival related topics.
I really loved this book. I like that the main characters are so dedicated to their family and that they have compassion for their neighbors. They are smart and have good plans for when the world turns upside down. For me, the greatest part about this book is the twists that make some of the characters unpredictable. For me a book that throws me for a loop is my favorite kind of book and this one does not disappoint. You wont regret reading this book.
4.0 out of 5 starsThis is a story that could actually happen

This is the second book in this series, although it can be read as a standalone. It's a book that leaves you thinking that all this could really happen. There are lots of thought-provoking quotes at the beginning of each chapter that you definitely want to read. This is dystopian but not young adult as there are scenes of violence. There were some editing issues but if you can overlook these the story holds its own and takes the reader of a journey that holds a lot of possibilities and things that could come to pass. It's original and the characters are well fleshed out. You get to feel what they feel as they make their journey to safety. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what will happen next.
