5.0 out of 5 stars Lei rocks again in Razor Rocks!

Yay, Lei and the crew are back! Oh how I have missed them and am so happy to have the stories extended beyond what we thought was the end.
They've grown a little bit but still just as interesting as the previous 12 books.
Toby Neal has become one of my top 5 authors with her innate ability to make her readers connect on a deep level with her well thought out characters and situations.
She puts so much depth into everything that it's hard to come back to reality after the book ends. I definitely recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another exceptional Hawaiian adventure

Razor Rocks, Toby Neal’s return to the complex world of Detective Sergeant Lei Texeira, is another winner. This book has it all: piracy, human trafficking, betrayal, murder for hire, and intrigue, and it's set in beautiful Hawaii. We get an update on her husband, Michael; her partner, Pono; her children, Kiet and Rosie; and her friends, Sophie, from the Wired series; Dr. Caprice Wilson, Marcella Scott and Ken Yamada all have a part in bringing this convoluted and intriguing case to a satisfactory end. Lei, never reluctant to do what needs to be done to take care of her family or to close a case, has a couple of close calls as she follows the clues to figure out just what is going on and then to bring the bad guys to justice, one way or another.

While, as with all of Neal’s books, Razor Rocks can be read as a stand-alone book, your reading pleasure and experience will be greatly enhanced if you start at the beginning with Blood Orchids and the subsequent novels to cap off your Hawaiian reading adventure with Razor Rocks. The series is worth the sleepless nights as you struggle to put the books down before the last page is read.

Its so good to have Lei and Stevens back again ! This book was, as expected, exemplary written . The storyline was fast paced, yet slowed enough at the absolute best intervals for the reader to catch their breath, so to speak. As Lei and Stevens work directly together on their first case, it, of course, goes into the expected train wreck quite rapidly. But Toby Neal is such a superb writer that it works together to bring the storyline to a successful conclusion. Of course, the "bad guys" end up with justice being done...in jail or the morgue, and Lei, again, ends up skating on thin ice with Captain Omura. My one complaint with tis book was having to wait to the very end to see if C.J. Omura is still with her man... Oh, I do have one more complaint...I wanted another book from this series promised to come out...soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ohana means family

In every sense, this book was like being reunited with family. Toby listened to her readers’ begging for more of Lei Texeira and her ohana. More crime fighting in the Hawaiian Islands, and more drama as realistic family struggles intertwine with daily life. As with all of her Lei Crime Series offerings, Toby brings nasty villains, this time in the form of pirates, wreaking some form of unthinkable havoc in the paradise that is Hawaii. Sergeant Lei Texeira is back in action, bringing the pirates to justice with surprising plot twists. All the while, Lei’s family dynamic is changing too, as her elderly grandfather comes to need her care.

I love how Toby always manages to educate her readers about Hawaii as she entertains us with incredibly intricate plots and page-turning action. Mahalo for another winner, Toby!

Wow, what a ride! It was so good catching up Lei and Michael and their family again. Oh how I have missed Pono and his trusty steed Stanley!! We even get to see some of the old gang back in action too. This book was filled with action and gripping suspense and kept me guessing the villain throughout the whole story. I always love how Toby Neal is able to educate her readers on poignant issues the Hawaiian Islands deal with to bring awareness through her storytelling. Definitely worth the read and everything I needed. I hope this is just a new beginning to more of Lei Texeira’s epic adventures!

After having read 12 books in this series and loving all the characters and the storylines, I was sad when Toby Neal said she was finished with it. Therefore, I was very happy when I saw she had written a new book and grabbed it quickly. I’m happy to say I was not disappointed and that she’s already working on the next book. As always,I did not want to put it down. The characters are so well developed, human and likable and I’ll be in line again as soon as the next one comes out.

I am so happy that there is a new Lei Crime book. Toby Neal once again wrote a riveting story that had me unable to put down. I have loved all her books and this one was no exception. Stevens, Pono and all the others were in here. It has to deal with pirates taking high end yachts and sinking them, killing captains and kidnaping the passengers. Lei works with the Coast Guard to solve this crime.

What is there not to love about Toby Neal and her incredibly complex, believable, and enduring characters? It was wonderful to see Lei and her family growing up with love, support, and inevitable challenges and to be able to follow her on her latest crime scene, resolved with that unpredictable twist of weird karma at the end. Always a bittersweet letdown when I finish a novel but I know she is writing frantically to bring us the next novel. Mahalo!

Worth the wait, just gold...
Razor Rocks brings us back to Lei and Steven's and oh this made me so happy, not that I don't love everything Toby writes I seriously do but I'm been missing Lei she was my first Toby Neal Heroine and I just can't let her go. I really love that Toby wove catch-ups with everyone in Razor Rocks, and even though there were highly emotional storylines interwoven into this mystery it all came together brilliantly and I love the emotional parts even if they are hard to read and leave me in tears, the way Toby Neal writes just brings it all to life I can never put a book of her's down.

Pirates, human trafficking, murder, and more dark and sinister depths await in Razor Rocks.

Lei and Steven's have grown so much as a couple over the years they really are a true team and have banded together with a true family unit I love that side of the story bringing the family together... Ohana.

I loved every single story of this series. Never found a moment where you just want to skip a few pages until there's more action. Toby Neal knows how to keep her readers involved. I especially loved the description of these beautiful islands, wishing perhaps a bit more of description of the life of the islanders. Loved, loved, loved the few Hawaiian words here and there. Please keep going with this series.
