5.0 out of 5 stars Intense!

This was one of the most dramatic and intense books I’ve read in a long time!
Asher Bailey is out of prison, but that doesn’t mean he is, by any means, ready to pick up where he left off with Grace Miles. They both have lots of healing to do and a lot of things to overcome, both internal and external. But you know the best happily ever afters are the hard-earned ones!
Grace has worked hard to sustain their love through separation and stubbornness. Asher is just trying to make it through the day without exploding. With the help of their families and friends they slowly, slowly make their way back to each other and it’s worth the wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fighting for us, is the book with all the feels and will give you a book hangover for days!

Fighting for us is a continuation of Protecting What Is Mine.

This book has all the feels and will have you processing for days, how beautiful their love for each other was definitely worth the fight.

Asher Bailey, did not break when he was in prison, but now he is home and he knows that he is broken and that Grace Miles deserves better. He told her not to wait for him, but that is not what she did.

Grace Miles has waited seven years for the man she loves, wearing the engagement ring he placed on her finger. As far as she is concerned, this was just a set back and when he gets out of prison, they will continue their life together.

As they both battle their demons, they find themselves and fighting for what they both want, their happy ever after.

The wisdom of Gram, is spot on. We should all have someone in our lives like that.

I can't wait to see what Claire Kingsley, has in store for the rest of the Bailey family.

I did not want this book to end! Asher and Grace are broken, we knew that. We didn't know how broken, but they have such big love for each other. This book made me want to yell and shake some of them, cry and laugh so hard, it made me stop and think about life and appreciate things. I am hooked with this series and the way Claire wrote these first two books! I absolutely LOVE all the characters and for the first time can't pick a favorite with the exception of Gram who is incredibly wise. The fued and pranks make this little town so interesting and fun and the little mystery kept me intrigued. I'm so happy we got to see the Miles family and their acceptance of everything as well! I can tell already this entire series will be amazing and I'm already impatiently awaiting book 3.

Where do I even begin?! Gosh. CK's "Heart. Heat. Happily Ever After." It's 100% spot on. This book was all those things and more!
A little bit of town mystery and intrigue, some fantastic side characters (Logan, Cara, Gram), A+ pranks, some Miles family cameos, and so much beauty in the brokenness. Not to mention some extremely memorable bedroom adventures (I'm looking at you, back of the truck picnic).
Asher and Grace are dealing with the fallout of seven years apart. It hurts at times and is inspiring at other times. Love always wins and that makes my heart happy. I don't usually like to read angst books but CK has my heart so I knew I could trust her. So glad I did because I absolutely loved this book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Words. It’s Amazing!

I started writing this review about an hour ago, about 10 minutes after I finished Fighting For Us. Because I thought I had the words I needed to describe this book. Seven incoherent paragraphs later, and I know I was wrong. Fighting For Us has left me speechless. Or at least reduced to rambling, which is basically the same thing. I still don’t think I have the words, but I’ll try.

As I’m sure other reviews have pointed out, Fighting For Us is book 2 in the Bailey Brothers series, after Protecting You. The Bailey Brothers is essentially a spinoff series of Claire’s Miles Family series. Do you absolutely have to read the Miles Family before reading the Bailey Brothers? No. The series can stand on its own. But I think it provides a richer story if you do. Do you have to read Protecting You before reading Fighting For Us? Absolutely.

Because Fighting For Us is a continuation of the same couple from Protecting You, Grace Miles and Asher Bailey, several years later. Asher has finally been released from prison, and is having trouble adjusting to his old life. On some level, I think both of them, and their families, and the entire town they live in, thought everything could go back to normal once Asher came home. But it can’t. Everyone is different from who they were, and they all need to learn to adjust to their new normal.

Personally, I tend to shy away from books where the hero is a convict, as I’m sure many of you do. Oftentimes, the convict hero is not a likable character. But that’s not the case with Asher. He was imprisoned for... well, I can’t say. Because spoilers. But if you’ve read Protecting You, then you know why. And he’s still a good person, even if he thinks he’s not. Not only does his misconception make him put up walls with Grave, but with everyone. And Grace spends a lot of time breaking down those walls. Fighting For Us really lived up to its title.

So, while Protecting You and Fighting For Us are about the same couple, they are still very different books. Protecting You was fun. At least, before. But Fighting For Us was deep. Oh, it was still fun. There’s still a feud going, of course. And I’m not entirely sure the Havens haven’t trained the squirrels to mess with the Baileys. You meet some new lovable characters, like Grace’s best friend Cara, and get some awesome cameos from other characters, like the Miles Family. Not only am I interested in what happens next with Ashers brothers, but I cannot wait to learn more about Eliza Bailey.

But this book was about more than just a cute couple, or funny side characters. It’s about acceptance of yourself and the people you love, and that changes to them are not always a bad thing.

I still don’t think I’ve done this book justice. Normal words feel inadequate. Calling it amazing or awesome just isn’t enough. But I really don’t have any other words, except to say that I highly recommend it.

More than that , I loved this duet. Asher and Grace's story is epic. The love, the laughter, the angst, the everything, is completely engaging and kept me enthralled all the way through. The characters, the setting, the shenanigans, you get all that and more. Absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next book in this series.
Absolutely recommended as are all of Claire Kingsley's books.

Great characters, real emotions that had me crying and raging along with the characters as they worked their way back from the darkest times.
I also look forward to seeing those brothers find the loves of their lives. Let the pranking continue.
