‘Take a Number’ is the latest book in the Wait For Me series by Amy Daws, but it is a complete stand-alone. If you haven’t read the others though, at some point you really should because they’re all great. This story centers on Norah and Dean, and characters from this series make appearances within it.

Norah is intensely focused on opening a second bakery and launching a franchise featuring her signature baked good, the Croinut. (Let me pause a minute in say that these treats sound so good it’s very frustrating that I can’t buy them anywhere!) She is a super organized, list making, successful businesswoman with no time for dating. Her parents have been happily married for a long time and her mother is oblivious that her success because she thanks of Norah’s a single status as being failure. Dean, on the other hand, is the extremely stylish king of meaningless dating. His parents had a toxic relationship and a disastrous marriage, which is something he is determined to never repeat. His two loyal best friends are women and we know he’s a good guy at heart, but he shows the world an image that is as shallow as a kiddie pool.

As you know from the book blurb, these 2 characters enter into a fake relationship. She needs to get her mother off her back, and he needs to get his friends off his back, because they sre both being hassled about dates they each need for upcoming social events. The way their relationship grows is as sweet and delicious as one of Norah’s bakery creations. There were times I wanted to shake Dean because he was so fearful of romantic love that he said cringeworthy things. The fact that he is still so likeable is amazing. Norah is so strong, capable and determined to reach her goals, but she ends up repeatedly surprising herself. There are gnomes, minty oil, velvet suit jackets, bike races, champagne, Foreigner, steamy moments, and lots of feelings. There is a delicious terrific HEA for Norah and Dean. By the way, I think other readers will agree Max needs a book of his own. I would even like Nate to get somebody special in his life, because he became quite likable after all.

Dean’s book is here and it’s everything I hoped it would be!! I think this book wins my top spot for this series!

Dean is cocky and so sure of himself. He’s a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy, no strings attached is just the way he likes it. So when his friend, and newest business partner Norah, needs a fake date to placate her mother, Dean readily agrees. It works for him, because he also needs a date for his best friend’s wedding. This is the perfect arrangement for both Norah and Dean, neither of them are interested in a relationship, they’re both too focused on their careers.

They agree that certain lines can’t be crossed if they want to keep their friendship intact. But the more time they spend with each other, those lines become blurred and the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts. But when real feelings get involved, and the end date for their arrangement looms nearer, they both have to take a hard look at their arrangement. Is ending it what they both want or can they change course?

Amy Daws seriously delivered for my boy Dean. He’s been such an amazing friend for Kate and Lynsey in their stories, so it seems fitting that we get to see them be those amazing friends for him. The relationship the 3 of them have is honestly beautiful. They push at each other and they bicker, but they have the best friendship. As for Norah, I love her! She gave as good as she got with Dean, and she wasn’t afraid to put him in his place. The banter between Dean and Norah was GOLD. Absolutely loved this story, and I’m crossing my fingers that we get to see more of these characters…maybe in a book for Max?!

Dean & Norah's story is sweet like a croinut and spicy like a jalepeno popper. Okay, it's probably actually a bit spicier than that, since the cream cheese really cuts down on the ... ya know what? You don't care about my snacking preferences. Okay! Back to Dean & Norah! : )

I enjoyed their halting friendship. Neither was quite sure that's what they had, but they got to know each other as they navigated their fake dating relationship. They grew a friendship, added some benefits, and realized they didn't want it to be fake any more. The only things I didn't really like there were how Dean reacted to Norah's suggestion they make it real & the length of their SOB (seemingly obligatory breakup).

But the final leg to their HEA... SWOON! And there are LOTS of LOL moments to enjoy, not only between them, but with Kate & Lynsey, too. I love the dynamic of their friendships w/ Dean!

So, a very enjoyable read & great addition to this series!

: )

Norah owns a bakery and her life is consumed with opening a second store and creating a franchise brand. She doesn't have time for relationships so when her mother tried to set her up with a childhood friend, she sets about trying to stop it. Dean has been friends with Norah for a while, he goes to the bakery a lot and suggests that he becomes a fake boyfriend to put Norah's mother off the scent! What starts as a rouse becomes something totally different. What happens when feelings become involved? What happens when they both become scared and try to run? This was another epic read that contained chemistry, humour and epic baking!

Amy did it again.. and I want to read it again already! Another addicting, all consuming rom com I cant get enough of. Amy writes the best characters that instantly make you fall in love with their humour, flaws and of course sex appeal! I laughed and cried and loved every word of this newest addition to my favourite book collection.

I love the dynamic of Norah & Dean’s intention to have a casual relationship initially which soon becomes much deeper. Dean stays true to character & nearly ruins any chance with Norah with his self doubt but with the aid of his two hilarious ‘girlfriends’ he manages to pull off a very romantic apology to hopefully win Norah back. Amy always has laugh out loud dialogue which has me coming back for more.
