5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical courtroom drama!

Heliotrope is a courtroom drama that, let's just say, is bizarre in every way it could be.

Set in the future, and neatly tying in previous ... and some future events (who is telling this story anyway?) from the earlier Psuedosynth novels (Cobalt, Crimson, Onyx, and Emerald) Heliotrope entails, through flashback technique, a courtroom drama, and previous crimes that did not take place. Yes, criminals - a few of whom are a cylinder of purple goo named Jere - there is no other, The Twins(curvaceous young women who are identical and love eating peeps) - are on trial for events that did not occur. So why are they on trial?
A character you will meet in an upcoming novel, Harmony, has learned what the key to time travel really is. With her help, albeit a little reluctant at first, helps set in motion a ripple that changes events that nearly destroys all of human kind. Because the events HAD happened, and there is ONE witness that can recall both realities of time, the courtroom drama, being the first of its kind, takes place. Who is the witenss? The best character yet to be drawn in the sci-fi world; a three year old Jaesa, a pseudosynth who is reaching singularity, but whose original programming has a glitch... not only does she crave sweets and crack her fingers and neck, but she has a swashbuckling vocabulary that would make my grandmother faint! It is equvelant to the rarest form of Terrets Syndrome, but a program glitch. She can realize both past and present, or a past that never happened in today's present simply because she was there and she cannot forget anything, even with a time ripple.
So, do these evil purple Synths get convicted with the crimes against the world, at the evidence presented from a past from where there is no tangible evidence? Or does this get thrown out of court?
The bigger question should be...did Cobalt and the team of military Synths really catch the puppet master?
This fourth novel in the Pseudosynth series is I a masterpiece in timeline writing. It also ties together many elements of the previous novels in the series that make the reader want to go back and reread passages just to check their memory...Did that really happen?...or....If that us not what really happened, then how did Used a end up in that cage? Hmmm.
If you loved the first three books(Emerald will always be my laugh out loud favorite), then this one will definitely top your list in the series. Chrome, next in the series connects directly to a Juror, who gets a little excited, and yet to be published, is Indigo...how does Harmony figure out time travel?
Give this series a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended

This one had me confused most of the way through, but that’s not hard to do. Heliotrope appears to be tying all the books together. Charles and Jere Verner start their life together very much in love, both are scientists, and working on their own projects. When Jere is dying with cancer, Charles has a plan to preserve her by combining her with AI technology. I won’t go into detail here, because I would mess it up. Needless to say, the author knows what he’s talking about and that’s good enough for me. The story was slow in spots, especially the trial, but it works well, regardless. I was happy to see Winter Balefire and Zuni in the story. Fans of DNA science and robotics will undoubtedly find this story hard to put down. Must I say more? Highly recommended.

When shot into space did she really go? or are there dendrils and traces of her here yet to return and wreck havoc on us all.? We shall see - Join the ride..

5.0 out of 5 stars Judging a Book by its Content

The trial of the century in an advanced year takes place in Texas. Chief defendant, Jere Verner, self-appointed “Digital Messiah” faces a serious charge—that of controlling humanity via optical devices, Chillaxifan, compliance microchips, and Vit Bits. Mrs. Verner has the transhuman world on a string, vis a vis purple gel containing over 9 billion different DNA strands.

In my judgement, CG Blade effectively strings the reader along on a high-tech, sci-fi scenario. Through subtle innuendos and wry humor, his story unfolds an extreme view of technology running amok whereby humanity becomes its own worst enemy.

A thought-provoking read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heliotrope:
Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2019
Have you survived the shock of Onyx? Good, you’re ready for Heliotrope. This one takes on an AI vs Creator saga, but it’s not clichéd. This is the one that brings this series all together. It leaves you questioning the future of technology and what you would do if your morals were truly questioned.
