5.0 out of 5 stars Sophie Ang is great.

I loved the cliff-hanger ending and that Sophie let Connor know unequivocally where she stood. She has come a long way from her FBI days, and I like the very strong woman she's becoming on her own.

Jake is certainly an interesting character, for a Neanderthal.

I had some major problems with Marcella, who is a contradictory mess in this book. Don't know why she would expect Sophie to believe she has her best interest at heart when she's an FBI agent first and their friendship is way down the list. In fact, if I were Sophie, I'd be mighty angry at the lot of them. Except for Jake, they deserve for her to turn her back on them. Sophie did what they were too incompetent to pull off and kept screwing up, and then they couldn't wait to pounce on her. Lei is a much better friend here, maybe because she's so busy being domestic she doesn't have time or energy to get involved in Marcella's ego stuff. Did Marcella help Sophie because she thought she would get information from her? I wouldn't trust her, given her reaction.

Can't wait for the next book, and I hope Sophie's story doesn't end there.

5.0 out of 5 stars occasionally interrupted by moments of light made of love, friendship and trust

Leave it to Toby Neal to come up with another fascinating story. She should be crowned The Queen of Suspense. All her characters are so real that when something "bad" happens to them I want to message Toby and ask her "how could you?".
This was truly a dark phase in Sophie's life, occasionally interrupted by moments of light made of love, friendship and trust, but there's so much to hope for in the end and the veil of darkness will vanish by dawn.
I love Lei, Marcella, Jake, Ted/Connor and all her other characters, but Sophie is my favorite by far. She's growing stronger and more beautiful with each story. As Jake said "she's the baddest badass".
I don't know how patient I will be until Wired Dawn is published, but I will be ready because I will re-read Sophie' story from the beginning... and I never read a thriller twice, however the "Wired" series are more than your classical mystery novels.
If you're ready to hold your breath and drop everything for a few good hours, find your most comfy chair and start reading!

I absolutely love Toby's Wired and Lei's books and have read almost every one of them. Her characters are strong and charismatic but they also have a soft side. Story lines are complex and you can't wait to turn the page to see what it holds. I have never been to Hawaii but she describes the scenery so beautifully you can see it as if you were there. I highly recommend reading all of Toby Neal's books, you will love them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't React Negatively To The Beginning

The opening certainly grabbed my attention but wasn't sure it was in a good way. However, I stuck with it and It turned into one of the best reads I have had this year. The central character is a highly talented young woman whose battle with depression is as much a part of the story as the plot itself. I thought given the ingredients it was going to be about her ex-husband torturing her, but it was only a minor subplot among an eclectic weave of magnetic stories impacting the anti heroes life. Looking forward to more

Author Toby Neal has another hit when Sophie Ang takes on battles that include her high tech detective abilities, her physical martial arts training, and her "do-it-her-way" crime solving action.
This Book 4 in the Paradise Crime Series lives up to its predecessors and opens the door into Sophie's future crime solving tests all around Hawaii.
I loved the action, the twists and turns of new characters, and the return of familiar characters from the Lei Mystery Crime Series. I couldn't put down the last half of the book. A great read.

The Sophie series is so interesting and this book doesn't disappoint! Toby is such a skilled writer. Her characters are interesting and change and grow as you read. That and the setting on the Hawaiian Islands makes this perfect for me. What a magnificent writer - you need to pick up her books and get started!!

Sophie for all her flaws is no coward. Her training as an FBI agent has equipped her with strength to ensure and survive repeated attempts by the sadistic Assan to capture and kill his ex wife. All is not as it appears during her assignment while an explosion leaves Sophie broken hearted as she is asked to identify the body. A great read and hard to put down!

Poor Sophie. At least on this case she wasn't shot AND the perpetrators will not be hurting anyone for a while. Also, a deadly threat has been removed. But what next? Despite the support of numerous old friends, her intelligence and her beauty, she still battles her demons, trusting no one but her dog. So whether she is running away again, or still searching for herself amidst the chaos, she takes off, with no trace but a blank postcard, on another soul search.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wired Dark - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Sophie Ang's fallen for Tod/Connor Remarkian, (aka The Ghost), who's vowed to relinquish is one-man vigilante quest to rid the country of law-breakers, paedophiles, drug-lords and their gangs and people-traffickers by getting them to turn on each other with a scheme of betrayal and deceit as a double-agent. Can Sophie trust him to keep his word? She has her own agenda to find and finish her evil abusive ex-husband Assan Ang, [who's vowed revenge for her escaping and leaving him to hide in the US with a new identity, Mary Watson, after faking her own death] who has traced her to the States.
After attempts are made on former beau Alika's life and then on new love Matt's, [by Assan's accomplice (and Matt's ex) Tara], Sophie has to step up to the mark and go on the hunt for Assan herself - and nearly pays for the result with her life!

I liked the fact Sophie's become a new woman and is not afraid to start a new life and protect Matt and daughter Hannah whatever the cost. Refusing to let her past torture and sadistic brain-washing life cripple her mentally or physically, as proved by the fact she's a Krav Magna champion, invented her DAVID system of criminal analysis and has friends (Marcella) and lovers, Matt and the Ghost and yet remains a believable fully-developed independent character, who's fully in touch with her emotions yet not dependant on having a man in her life to be fulfilled.
A great character in a great series, which I can guarantee will hook you in from the first to the last pages in this all-action thriller from the magnificent Toby Neal.
Grab the whole series as soon as possible then spread the word to all your friends so they can love Sophie and her world too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth staying up late to finish!

This fourth book in the Paradise Crime series belts all the previous books into the park! We start from the first paragraph, where Sophie's ex-husband is plotting to pull her back into his life again - only this time there would be no escape from him. This series builds through each book, so it is best to have read them in order, so that you can watch the characters develop. Sophie now is working as a private security consultant. But threats have been made against their client and the team guarding him are on full alert for trouble. But what Sophie doesn't know is that her ex-husband is out to cause even more trouble for her and those she loves.
The action is fast paced; the information technology is cutting edge but believable. Toby Neal has done it again with this chapter of Sophie's life. She can almost write books quicker than I can read them - but they are worth seeking out if you haven't read any of this series. Characters reappear from her Lei Crime series throughout these books, and slowly build into "real" people who we learn to care about and want to learn more about. Yet another thrilling read worth staying up late to finish!

When your job is to be the protector which then turns into having to protect yourself from a former threat hell bent on getting you where they want you and vulnerable, you better have your wits about you right from the start.
Great plot driven book, fast paced with plenty twists and turns to keep you guessing. Great writing style too.

A bit of intrigue that developer he main characters or tries to given their multiple personalities. Strong showing by Sophie/Mary/Sandy with her supporting cast, but it begs the question, apart from the art gallery owner who's supporting Assan and are they still out their waiting for revenge? Rad on is the only solution I guess
