I loved the cliff-hanger ending and that Sophie let Connor know unequivocally where she stood. She has come a long way from her FBI days, and I like the very strong woman she's becoming on her own.
Jake is certainly an interesting character, for a Neanderthal.
I had some major problems with Marcella, who is a contradictory mess in this book. Don't know why she would expect Sophie to believe she has her best interest at heart when she's an FBI agent first and their friendship is way down the list. In fact, if I were Sophie, I'd be mighty angry at the lot of them. Except for Jake, they deserve for her to turn her back on them. Sophie did what they were too incompetent to pull off and kept screwing up, and then they couldn't wait to pounce on her. Lei is a much better friend here, maybe because she's so busy being domestic she doesn't have time or energy to get involved in Marcella's ego stuff. Did Marcella help Sophie because she thought she would get information from her? I wouldn't trust her, given her reaction.
Can't wait for the next book, and I hope Sophie's story doesn't end there.
