Doesn't live up to the premise

I had high hopes for this story and it started pretty well. We get a good glimpse of the backgrounds of our major players. Unfortunately it goes bad pretty quickly. This is listed as a "Shifting Hearts Dating Agency" series, but the dating agency is actually a really minor side note that doesn't add much to the story line. Same goes for the BDSM club mentioned. Other than the main male characters owning the club, it really didn't add anything to the story. And I didn't buy the Dom/sub line in the slightest.

The "conflict" could have been good, but was rushed. It was resolved in 1 page and felt "lazy". The entire story felt rushed and I had many moments where I had to skip back a paragraph or two to figure out that there was a time jump.

Finally, I absolutely HATE when an author lies about the number of pages in a book. According to my Kindle, this book has 209 pages. This story ends at the 75% mark on page 156. The remainder of the book is taken up with the first 2 chapters of the next story in the series and a listing of the author's other offerings. Make no mistakes, this is a SHORT story.

It could be good. The premise is sound and the conflict was solid. The execution, unfortunately, did not live up to the synopsis. I even read the 2nd in the series to see if the author works it out. (Spoiler - she didn't). This one wasn't worth the money.

Not only is this a really good romance but it's a rather unique grouping of shifters. Jonathan is a bear shifter and the Dom of the group, Lucas is a cat shifter and Natalie is a hedgehog shifter. Yup... a hedgie between a bear and a cat. And yet, they blend wonderfully right from the start with instant-love streaking from one to the other. I really enjoyed the heat between Jonathan and Lucas is as white-hot as it is between the three of them and each variable. 💕💗🔥💕

This book is amazing. In this book we meet Natalie, Lucas, and Jonathan. Natalie is a hedgehog that seems to change whenever she gets nervous. This can happen all the time or sporadically depending on her mood or how much she is around her family. Natalie's mother seems to bring it out in her due to the amount of time she spends putting her down. She knows there has to be someone out there for her but if she can't control her shift how can she expect to find them.

Lucas and Jonathan have been together for quite a while but they both know they are missing someone. They need their woman to complete them. They know they have to wait until she comes to them but waiting is becoming harder and harder to do. Though they love one another completely they want her too. So when they decide to have a meet and greet night at their club they would never have guessed that she would walk right into their world. All they know is now that they have her they are never letting go.

This is a great short story that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I have never read a book about a hedgehog shifter before and this one makes me wish there was more.

Hedging Her Bets is about Natalie a Hedgehog shifter that shifts unexpectedly when she gets nervous mostly due to her mother putting her down.

She meets Jonathan and Lucas, who are looking for a third in their relationship, a Bear and Cat shifter respectively, and mates, at their Club Ventures and Its Lust and love at first sight as these hot men realize Natalie is their mate. I just loved this shifter story and cant wait to read book 2

I have never read a shifter book with a mixture of different animals involved but it works. Jonathan, bear shifter, Lucas, cat shifter and Natalie, hedgehog shifter.

I really liked this book a lot but it seemed rushed and the plot, although complete, seemed really rushed. I would have loved to have learned more about the three main characters both together and separately. And about what happened to Natalie's Dad and about what happened in the weeks after the three got together.

But the story is a solid 4 stars and is lovely, quick read.

I appreciate the bit of background on how the two male characters came together but I was left wanting more knowledge of the two before they become three. I also wanted to know how the heroines nervous condition was resolved and if she did get spanked. This story left me with a few questions.

I really enjoyed the start of this book, there was a great build up and a strong foundation and introduction to each of the three characters. I especially loved Natalie, I like it when shifters are slightly different animals to the 'norm' and it was both adorable and amusing to have a prickly little hedgehog who couldn't quite control her shifting. It just felt like the last part was rather rushed - we were over three quarters of the way through the book before all three characters were even in the same room together and once they were that was kinda it - insta-mate-love and goodbye. I would have really loved the book to be twice as long and explore the growing relationship and dynamic between the three of them. Also the book mostly revolved around a BDSM club, both the males were in a BDSM relationship, other characters were mentioned having scenes at the club - yet we never got to see one *pouts* I've read some of the authors other work and know she can write steamy your page up sex scenes lol.

Overall, an enjoyable story but would have liked more detail on the characters relationship.
