Doublespacing and writing a disappointment.

Double spaced to add more pages. Very unlikely story line.
China takes over part of US, man goes home to his mother, soldiers come to house, man runs away to where his mother says to go, (ends up it is the home of a nationally known survival expert) no one there he runs back to home where his mother has been killed, he decides to take revenge, kills many soldiers, beautiful Chinese woman attacks him, he gets away in stolen Humvee, same woman drops out of helicopter to attack him again, and so on. All this in one night and the night isn’t over.
Stopped reading halfway thru.

I know this is a book that I really got behind. It wasn’t about zombies, its main focus wasn’t about starving people to death, had had an original story to tell. And yes, it could happen in our time. I’m glad I’m a semi prepper. It’s a great book I can’t wait for the second one. Read it you’ll love it.

As I said - it's not too bad, but the continuity slips and it has implausible actions.

An example - the hero is breaking into a guarded area, wearing an enemy uniform, without any face concealment - this causes the Chinese guards to instantly realise he is out of place ... after he escapes, he's glad he was wearing a mask.

He gets wounded in the shoulder and patched up by his sidekick. Ten minutes later their hideout is attacked and he uses a bow to take down some attackers - yeah ...

His boyhood friend turns against him after being seduced to the dark side by the mayor who is a collaborator, without even asking "WTF, Bro? what do you know about (this thing that has befallen me).

No - needs work.

Interesting and realistic storyline and characters. Good guys are not Hollywood-stupid who leave enemies alive, but they also make poor decisions based on emotion; like real people.
Chinese troops seem a little too easily overcome, which I question as a veteran; Chinese are many things but poorly trained dorks is not one of them.
Otherwise the whole series was entertaining enough to keep my interest from beginning to end.

Great “foreign occupation” story. Moves quickly without a lot of the tedious digressions you run into in some post-apoc books that add nothing but pages. I’ll bet I didn’t skip over two pages the entire book. There also thankfully was no “in denial” character — you know, the one that keeps refusing to understand what’s going on and keeps getting the other characters in trouble. Nice writing style too — descriptive but efficient. Definitely among the better written post-apoc books.

And makes you think of what could happen next.it was hard to put down for you are so involved in the story you forget that you are reading it and not there. L had a hard time to put it down ,so l read the whole story in 2 days .l hope the rest of the books are the same.
