This one really hit me in the feels, y’all. It’s sweet and swoony. I’ve read all of the books in this series, except for the very first one, and I will continue to pre-order because I think this author is great. She’s awesome at creating a connection between her characters in a short period of time. I also appreciate that it’s a clean romance, but there’s still some sultriness at points.
This novel has alternating perspectives, and it really works for this tale. It made it easier to understand how the characters went from hate to love (and to see there wasn’t really any “hate” to begin with). There’s also an unexpected conflict Winter and Logan have to deal with that added grit and depth to the story (and that also gave me some Romancing the Stone vibes). I love how strong and capable Winter is; she’s not a damsel in distress, which is awesome.
I was bummed when I got to the end and realized that there was no epilogue. However, I was immediately assuaged when I read the premise for the next in the series. I’m also really happy that our Viking, Archie, is getting his own story because I really liked him. I love this series; it’s always nice to have a HEA in the mix with all the crime/suspense/murder/double cross novels I normally read. Keep ‘em coming, Camilla Isley!
