I've loved many of L.B. Dunbar's books. This one...I almost didn't finish this one.
The characters were older, which is a big draw for me. The surprise daughter was not new, but a good storyline.
Not So Good Things:
The H and h often behaved quite immaturely. Their dialogue was almost high school level at some points. Worse, their behavior seemed way too young for supposedly mature people. I know numerous people in their 60s who behave childishly, but that's really an exception. I found myself wondering if these characters were actually from a book for younger readers but used in this book instead. Thet just didn't fit as well as they should have.
The supposed "misinderstandings" particularly between the H and the h were handled very roughly. I felt like there were missing pages or even chapters there. The disparities between what was said and what was meant were huge, like canyon huge. It almost made it hard to get what was happening at some points. These misunderstandings were labored, like they were dropped in without much thought. It was disjointed.
The sex was good, but again seemed like it sometimes came from a juvenile perspective. Kind of a buzzkill.
Overall, I found this story disappointing.
