Macon Brady had been having nightmares that kept him up at night after what he went through at the hands of his sister-in-law Hazel's (FOREVER ONLY ONCE) ex-husband's hands. But that wasn't the only reason he couldn't sleep, there was a smart, beautiful and single mother who caught his eyes, Dakota Bristol.
Dakota Bristol, owner of the Boulder Bean café and a single mother of a six year-old son named Joshua, who left her ex because she couldn't stand the hurt any longer. She was hurt in the past and she didn't want to go through that again. Macon had demons that were haunting him yet she couldn't stay away from the man. Cause her son loved him and the more time she spent with him, she knew she wouldn't be able to keep up her walls.
Macon had some dragons to slay. He was fighting to keep his anger under control. He never wanted to feel helpless ever again, no matter what. Hazel found herself on a friendly date with the man she was trying to avoid. There was a deep attraction between them and it scared her.
There was danger lurking around, when Dakota's past came back to haunt her. She realized that she wasn't alone, no matter what she thought. She was loved by her friends, her son and her customers. And the man she'd lost her heart to.
Macon and Dakota became so much more than friends, they were lovers, partners and equals. They helped each other fight their demons. The way they complemented each other was done beautifully. Along with Joshua and some new additions, they got their HEA. They were family.
