Great book written in a clear, grounded and empathetic way. This is a practical guide and a "check list" before going through the process and during it. Written in a wonderful tone, very human and understanding that divorce is not an ideal situation that involves husband and wife as well as kids and everyone will end up affected. Overall this book covers a lot of important topics with regards to the whole divorce process with good explanations and definitions. If you're going through the process or will go through it, buy this book.

Great resource for women (or men) heading towards divorce. The author addresses many of big and small areas of parenting that are important to think through when raising children, despite the parents not being together. Written with empathy but not overly sappy or flowery, this book will help you see around the dark corners of divorce in a way that makes the daunting more do-able.

5.0 out of 5 starsA Helpful Guide to Making an Unpleasant Experience Less So, Especially for the Children
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2018
Divorce is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life, and it is at least as difficult for the children. Sarah’s book focuses primarily on how to make the process easier on the children. Her overriding message seems to be that, no matter how acrimonious the events leading up to the divorce may be, everyone benefits if parents can remain civil when negotiating the matters that concern the children. This book helps you do just that, by defining all the issues that need to be addressed while you work through the terms of divorce in a fair and reasonable manner with the welfare of the children as the primary concern.

5.0 out of 5 starsThe SMART Mom's Guide to a Good Divorce

I read this book and shared it with a few friends. It helps women think through aspects of divorced life that you can't imagine when married. She lays out a calm and practical approach to one of life's biggest challenges. Her sensibility combined with strength and an unwavering moral compass is invaluable to both men and women in their time of need. Think of this book at the Smart Mom's Guide to a Good Divorce. You will thank yourself and so will your children, and probably your x-husband at some point if you can absorb and follow even half of it. When you're going through hell, keep going, with this book in your back pocket.
Ms. Armstrong's book is a relevant, step by step guide to understanding the divorce process from a practical, emotional and linear perspective. Divorce can be all consuming, and the author breaks it down into sections and steps to take to get through the process in a necessary, intelligent but also kind manner. Highly recommended.
