This was a good book. Some of Ben Stillman's books I really enjoy and some are a little less enjoyable. This one was good until the end. It did not tie up the the loose ends. What happened to old man Hollister? Did The Hollister middle son die? What was Bens reaction to his young deputy catching a crook?
This series started out with raw honest frontier grammar, but has degraded to 'Little House on the Prairie' phoney expressions. Also, the author(s) changed a lead character's name from Fay to Faith...after 8 books, wow! With numerous typos and misplaced/misspelled words... proofreading is apparently a thing of the past. Is this being transcribed with computer... or other robot?

I have enjoyed reading all of the Sheriff Ben Stillman novels. The reason I give it a four instead of a five is because I prefer stand alone westerns novels. Peter Brandvold is one of my favorite authors of the western genre.

Peter Brandvold is an excellent story teller. I related to the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the story. Peter has good knowledge of horses firearms and the history of the old west. I recommend this book and others by this author.
