I love when an author takes a trope that we all know and makes it her own! Kim Loraine has a talent for this, she took the fake relationship between Buck and Penny and gave us what we wanted, no what we needed.

We are back at the Ryker Ranch but this time we get to know Buck Ryker, a real rancher/cowboy with a hard alpha shell, until Penny comes along and cracks it to show us the vulnerability that Buck doesn’t want anyone to see.

This is a sweet romance with just enough sizzle. It will bring you back to Montana and you won’t want to leave! And thankfully you won’t have to yet as there is at least one more Ryker Ranch story on the way. This was a wonderful addition to this series and you don’t want to miss out on it!

Kim Loraine writes well, which is a big plus for me since I've read way too many self-published books that were badly in need of better proofreading. The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I wasn't crazy about Penny. Her personality wasn't explored as well as it could have been. Although she appreciated other people's kindnesses toward her, not once did she go out of her way to help anyone else in the story. Also, I was frustrated with her because it seemed the only reason she didn't like Buck (or told herself she didn't like him) was because of something that had happened 10 years previously, when Buck was only 17. I wanted to say to her, "Seriously? You're still going to hold this against him when he was just a teenager? Get over it already." I did like Buck's personality, but at times felt the story could have been wrapped up a lot sooner if only he or Penny had been honest about their feelings. I like stories where there's a bigger hurdle for the main characters to overcome before they find their HEA.

I am getting to know why cowboy romance is quite quaint and a bit sexy. Kim Lorraine has a way to make it that so and I was able to read/listen through And through. This is a Fake fiancé trope with Buck and Penny! They knew each other as teens...well, Penny is 16 and Buck was 21 & had this chemistry. As they got older and the ranch needed money as well for Penny, they put 2 together to make it as a business deal for that reality show! It’s somewhat a continue form the from book but this could be a stand alone with the Ryker’s brothers. Overall, it’s a little hot mess off and on camera and love every bit and pieces of each chapter with these 2!!! Audiobook Narrators Aaron Sherlock and Stella Hunter were splendid w/each other! I love narration duet!!!!!!! So, you want sexy, yummy, and down right a little of that sweetness- this is it! 👌

Well Buck and Penny have a long history. Penny was crushing on Buck since they were teens. Little did Penny know so was Buck but Penny overheard his brothers talking about a bet with Buck and she took off hurt, embarrassed and angry. Buck had no idea what happened. I bought and read this right after our girl's first book in this series and I will be buying the third one this Christmas. The story was great, I enjoyed the plotline, but I'm not totally sold on the ending as if felt so rushed and they've only known each other for such a short time. Again though, that could have been said about the last book as well.

Regardless, I totally recommend this book, it's fun, playful, and full of cowboy charm which I am a sucker for. Keep getting Supernatural vibes and I don't hate it what so ever!
