When is a stone more than a stone? Divorced Cascade Lorne finds out just before her fiftieth birthday when a package is delivered to her house by....Not just a little person, because he didn't meet her description of one. Before she can reason out what has happened, she's being told the impossible. She's a witch. A powerful one and some people are deathly determined to keep the truth from her, no matter who the casualties are.
I know my description comes out suspenseful but it A Witch Too Late by M.E.. Harmon and Paula Lester was also quite warm, friendly and funny throughout. I enjoyed it and would have continued reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lite reading to enjoy

Enjoyed the story, it was a quick read, just disappointed in the amount of typos, misspellings and grammatical errors in these files. Also, the cover bears a remarkable resemblance to another witchy series by a different author that I get the two series mixed up. Clip art? Or same graphic artist? If that was me I'd be worried people were buying the wrong book!

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY A WITCH OVER 25 YEARS OLD

I enjoyed this well written book and the prequel. The people in the book are relatable even if they are not all human. I enjoyed having a female lead who was over 25yrs and under 65 since those seem to be the most popular ages of most witch books. The story was well laid out with the lead having both a spine and a brain. I would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good world building

The author did a good job introducing the major character (and the readers) to a new world full of magical beings. There is a satisfactory ending, but still enough left over threads to make one want to read the next book.

Like the idea of an older woman. Like a lot of books lately there is too much page filler, like descriptions of rooms. The story needed more meat, like why her mother was bad and her step sister was so mean, what was wrong with the aunt. All in all it was an ok story.

Those in the mood for a lighter tone mystery with a supernatural cast will enjoy this. A dash of romantic potential and minus any blood and guts make this enjoyable to read. You still have to guess who done it.

This book was so enjoyable. It was way past time to have an older heroine. She was depicted as a strong capable woman who didn't just lay down and cry. Thank you for this wonderful book. I look forward to more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better late than never?

Terrific read. Forget all the stories about witches getting their powers early - she doesn't get hers until she's a couple of days short of her 50 birthday. Now every emotion comes out whenever she coughs or sneezes. A great new spin. The characters need a bit of work as it's only at the end of the book that she put on her big girl pants and actually owned her power.
Her divorce has left her free to do what she wants including painting her walls any colour she wanted. But an unexpected delivery knocked her flat and then out. Now she has a woman on her doorstep telling her she's a witch and shat at her age she'll have to go in front of the Council. Death, a teacher or prison seem to be all that they are offering. Her sister refuses to teach her and her aunt is suffering from old age. However with Echo the cat and her handsome neighbour she is allowed back home as long as she wears a dampening stone. Waking up next to the dead body of the Council is not what she had in mind when she went to bed. Add in ghosts, a magical stone, ghouls, a traitor and the real story of why her package took so long to get to her as well as a kidnapping are all mixed into a read that really is vastly different from the others.

I loved this book. It is a break from the norm with the central character not knowing she has magical powers until later in life. The cat Echo was such a fun addition too. I look forward to reading more in this series.
