The 3rd book of this series finds Rolf and Erin called to investigate a double homicide at a motel. The Major Crime Unit of the NYPD will become involved with the Russian mafia and humans traffic. Erin and Rolf moved into an apartment in Manhattan. Before they have completed the move they are called to a double homicide in Brooklyn. The evidence shows a group of shooter shot through the window and complete the job inside. Originally it was considered a prostitute and John. Further examination they concluded that victims were meeting for something else. The girl was pregnant and planning on allowing the man to adopt the baby. Vic Neshenko of Russian descent of squad heads to the Russian area of becomes involved with a girl. At this point, a gunfight occurs and Vic is shot. Rolf's car is destroyed and it becomes a race to catch the Russians before they leave the country with a group of young woman. I am ready to read DOUBLE SHOT when it is released later this year. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

This book had me hooked from the start. The characters are richly drawn and their interaction is enjoyable. The main character Erin is a great cop with the perfect partner in K9 officer Rolf. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

I enjoy this series, as I like mysteries and police procedurals with strong women characters. The main character, Erin, is maturing and growing. I will buy more of this series.
Fast Paced Book with great characters and storyline. Erin is a tough detective going places in the NYPD. She and her K9 partner never give up on a case till they get the bad guys. I look forward to reading the next book in this series
This series just gets better with each book! Vic, Erin, Webb & Jones are really becoming a team! Getting to know the characters is a challenge! Throw in monsters who have a code, makes you keep wondering!

This is a very good developing mystery and K-9 series. It has a lot of potential. It moves along and is paced well. It does not focus enough on the dog-and his work and importance for those reading this with that slant in mind. I have enjoyed it and hope there will be added books to the series.
The first murders in this novel are particularly tragic - no spoilers - as Erin and her dog, Rolf, are launched into murderous waters with the Russian mob.
I like this series featuring the young female detective, newly inducted into the special crimes squad. Vic Neshenko, of Russian descent, and Erin's partner, is likeable and a bit of a charmer (in a rough way) a perfect offset to Erin's determination and skills. Erin is a person for whom I have a constant concern.
Rolf, of course, plays himself to perfection.
What draws me to this series is the energy of the writing, the great imagery which draws the reader into the action without being so fast-moving that it is confusing. Some police action novels do this, and leave me - for one - bewildered, more than delighted!
I am looking forward to reading the fourth in this series, which I am reliably informed is in the creative stage - i.g. the hair-tearing, whiskey sipping, procrastination and sheet-biting process :)
