There's a lot here for young readers. It's a great, light read that has danger, wonder, excitement and fun for boys and girls. The magic in it is colorful and varied in its source material. The stakes are raised to create excitement and the adventure always has something new around the corner. It will likely inspire young readers to go outside on adventure hikes, which is something sorely missing from our culture in an age of smartphones, tablets and video games. Parents can rest assured that it is safe for their children to read, with no explicit content. If your kids like Harry Potter or Star Wars, they will likely enjoy this too. And the ending is great. It will keep your kids entertained and will probably motivate them to go on adventures of their own. What's cool is that there are enough "talisman" objects to make gift-buying for young fans easy (a quick trip to an antique shop or some parchment and red seal wax will do the trick). Give it a shot! The adventures continue with the rest of the series but don't feel like you're locked into a trilogy. If you get to the end of the book and decide you're done, one book is all you need to commit to. But I bet by the time your child gets to the end, they'll be adding the other books to their Christmas list. Enjoy!

I enjoyed reading the 1st book in the series. Although most of the characters are boys, girls would enjoy reading the adventures of the Traveler's League also. And one of the Travelers that is chosen is a girl and breaks the tradition. There are interesting worlds that Hoops (the main character in this book) travels to and scary creatures that he battles. I am an adult who enjoys reading fantasy novels and I was intrigued by the book. I bought the book for my 6 year old grandson so his parents can read it to him. I am sure he will enjoy it like I did. This book is also about friendship and doing the right thing, so life lessons can be learned too besides the battle between good and evil. There will be more books in the series coming out so the adventures of the Traveler's League will continue. I was given an advanced copy of the book to review but received no compensation for my review.

My oldest child said she is enjoying this book and thinks it is a great, She said it is very visually descriptive which she enjoys. She said it is creative and a great introduction to fantasy books.
My 11 year old is my most reluctant reader. He finished it and quickly told me he can't wait til the next book comes out. This is a HUGE compliment from him!
My 8 year old reads a ton of books. She said it reminded her of the Septimus Heap book series. She finished the book very quickly. She really enjoyed reading about the different worlds in the book.
I know this book is intended for young children but I have found I enjoy reading these books. The story line is a good one. A lot of unexpected things going on. I do recommend this for young adults and older ones too.
I ordered this book for my grandson and he read it within just a few days after receiving it. It is a great adventure book for kids. I recommend it highly!
